As a Penguins fan (and hockey fan in general) - it's the right decision. The NHL needs a 100% Sidney Crosby (and so do the Penguins)!

I was hoping he'd play, lead Canada to a WC title, and complete the career slam (WJC, WC, Olympics, Stanley Cup). Hopefully he never has another shot at the WC.

While I am disapointed he will not represent Canada, I completely understand and respect his decision. If he gets back to the 1.7'ish pts/game regular season pace, we are in for a great regular season next year.

I envision Sid lining the gym with TVs all looping games from this series, and him staying in there for 10 hours a day, just boiling with rage and venom. I think next season could be very exciting for him, if he can bottle up the hate and use it on the ice.

Because of his concussion issues, Crosby wasn't able to train last summer as aggressively as he would have liked and given his ongoing issues in season, he wants to make sure he's 100 percent ready for training camp.

The World Championship is a huge deal outside of North America. It gets put on the back-burner here because of the playoffs, and so many of Canada's and USA's best players still battling for the Cup.

Sid is coming back "Malkin style" next year. He was chasing the game since his return, he is a perfectionist and it did not sit well with him to have physical highs and lows with conditioning. It was obvious watching him in the stretch that some nights he had it and some he didn't. He wasn't concussed, he was just gassed.

This only gives the Crosby haters in Canada more ammo, but I don't really care about them.
