I think to pry Weber from Nashville, it would take Letang. His nice cap hit for the next two would be appealing to them. I'd have to think pretty hard about that. It'd be tough to trade a fan favorite like Letang, and you would have to find a way to fit Weber's salary. But Weber is better, and the Pens have Despres and Morrow coming up to pick up the slack, not to mention that you have to have some concerns with Letang's durability going forward.

Why do people insist on spending a *charcoal* ton of money on defense? It isn't necessary...

Malkin for Weber. Just sayin . . . Caps are winning without Russian superstar Ovechkin as he played 13 minutes last night while they beat the Rangers. Sorry to offend some I truly respect on here, but defense wins championships. I dont believe that Art Ross trophy winners do. Look at history.

Good D-man, but we need a big, tough guy to win the Cup. Besides, Bylsma's system would probably ruin him, too.

Didn't he score a big PP goal last night? Plus Ovechkin is not where near on the level he was. Plus ovechkin has always been me me me first player. Malkin has never been like that. Also Malkin is a very good back checker and defenders.

You know that history that showed when Malkin won the Art Ross the Pens won the Cup? :pop:

As I said, Michel Therrien had him playing DEFENSIVELY, too. He's totally lost that. Yes, Ovie had a PP goal while playing . . . that is my point! You don't need ONE GUY to SCORE ALL YOUR GOALS. It has to be a TEAM EFFORT and that is what Dale Hunter is trying to teach Ovie. Any my answer is YES, Geno often tries to do everything himself - not to mention the horrible giveaways that result. I don't WANT to see Malkin go as he is fun to watch, but if sacrificing one player means winning the Cup (like Washington's theory), then it must be done. And I would keep Staal over Malkin. Just my opinion.

And, Rylan, we would never have gotten to Game 7 had it not been for Staal, Talbot and Scuderi. Nice for Geno to take home the Con Smythe and glory, but you will not convince me that one big scorer is what it takes to win a Cup.

Wow, someone just tweeted Mark Madden to trade Malkin for Eric Staal so the brothers could be here in Pittsburgh. Madden said he didn't think Carolina would trade E Staal for Malkin. Hmmmm Why is that??? Let's think about that . . . what teams would trade for Malkin over Staal?

When did Mark Madden's opinion become the be-all-end-all?

Madden hates Geno. Doesn't really hide it.

How many of those players won Stanley Cups for their team? Lemieux, Gretzky, Jagr, Forsberg, St. Louis, Crosby, and Malkin. Just because it wasn't in the same year as they won the Art Ross doesn't mean they weren't an integral part of their team's success in their respective Cup years. You don't trade Art Ross winners (let alone Conn Smythe/Hart winners) so you can get Shea Webber. Holy crap.

I'm not sure what Ovechkin has to do with Malkin. Scratch that. I am sure, and it's absolutely nothing.

Eric Staal for Malkin? People are nuts.

Who cares about more than 20 years ago???? It was a totally different game. Do I have to list the teams that won the Cup in those same years? Trust me, they don't match up except 2009 - again, which was Therrien's defense!

Flyers traded Richards and Carter for a goaltender. Let's see . . . who is still playing, Flyers or Pens?

so your sample size (because pre-lockout was a different game by today's standards) is about 7 seasons. So you just discredited your own argument. :thumb:
