The Penguins plans to use the site for parking, temporarily at least, once the land has been graded. The SEA hopes to have the parking ready by September.

I mean, they could have just brought in about 40 ex players and had them walk to center ice before the last regular season game and play a 5 minute video about the building afterwards. Then they could sell trinkets made out of the building's roof panels for profit. But the Pens front office would never do that, right?

Why did they have to be gangsters and only sell them for $500 when they were just going to junk them anyway? I know people would have purchased ALOT more if the price was actually reasonable......Anyone try to garbage pick?

I'd be lying if I said it didn't cross my mind.
But to run through all that rubble, trying to find something to take home, then thinking about the whole legal side of it, I decided against it. At the very least, there's trespassing and if they wanted to get all uppity, it is a form of theft. I don't know if they'd cite you, send you home, or whatever, but I wasn't really up for finding out.
And as much as I hate all things Philly, I thought I heard they let people have one last run through the Spectrum where they paid x dollars and they were able to take whatever they wanted.
edit: yes, found it. $25 for "if you can carry it, you can keep it". If that were the case here, they would have had the arena dismantled in 30 days.

edit #2 but it appears that tools "were not permitted". I'm sure they found their way into the place though. The $25 also included a commerative crystal.

I thought they did that? They brought guys like Rob Brown out (this was 2 years ago, memory's hazy), then they sold the roof ornaments...
