It is odd that the Pittsburgh Penguins and LA Kings followed a similar path. It was always mentioned that they were building over just like we did.

Not the first time that path was followed and wont be the last. It is hardly original to can a coach then win the cup. Uncle Lou of the Devils does it every few years!

The amount of star power added from one year to the next makes the Kings about as far from the Penguins as could be.

And then the Kings traded for Carter/Richards signed Gagne and shored up their defense.
There's a few similarities, but they traded for home run guys and it worked out for them.
