Unrestricted as a couple days ago. May talk to other teams as his rights were completely lost by Anaheim. May not sign before July 1. Difference between ordinary course UFA, they remain under contract until June 30. They may not talk to another team. Technically, as far as the Central Registry is concerned, Schultz has no NHL rights.

Gotcha Thx.

Ray should not OVERPAY for Parise or Suter.

If Ryan is not traded now, he will be at some point. I like Ryan over Parise due to size. Pens need to get bigger.

I'm also starting to lean on "do nothing" and see how things go with NHLPA/NHL negotiations.

Since the collective goal here is to have Shero double down and get Parise and Suter, what is the max total you'd like to see Shero spend on them....keeping in mind the kind of $$$ that Wideman just got.

I know, I think it will take 6.8M to get Suter and 6.5-7 to get Parise (closer to 14M total). Not sure I would spend that with Letang not signed LT.

I think shero will probably pick up doan (better fit for the club, and cheaper), and he may or may not swap sutter for martin depending on how much other teams are willing to overpay for sutter. I wouldn't mind Gill or Allen though

Low End
Suter - $6,500,000
Parise - $7,000,000

High End
Suter - $7,000,000
Parise - $7,500,000

Out of Pens-land
Suter - $7,500,000
Parise - $8,000,000

Keep in mind that GM's know the cap may not stay at $70,200,000. If it falls, Shero isn't going to handcuff himself heading into October.

I actually think Parise and Allen/Gill is the more likely scenario.

The question that needs answered is, "Is Martin really that bad". If yes, you have to move him and make a play on a top 4 Dman.

The current cap can't be undone. As per the current CBA, the GMs are entitled to sign and stay within its limits. If the CBA changes, they'll make accommodations accordingly. If anything, actually, if they change the structure of the cap it will only help Shero to have everyone signed and locked into their contracts already. It wouldn't be legal to undo contracts that were legally signed.

Suter can get $7+, easily...

If Suter takes a penny less than $7M it's because either long contract length and/or takes a tad less to play somewhere he really wants to pay.

If Parise can't comprehend the importance for us to be able to use these with him photoshopped onto them this season, then I'm not sure he's someone I want playing for the Pens

I'm much more worried about how long rather than how much. I'd rather have Parise for 4 years at ~$8.5 then be paying him $6 until he's 37.

Only if the players use market value to determine their price. If Parise values playing in Pittsburgh more than the amount of money he is worth than it means he is not affected by supply and demand.

The defense as a whole has been below the line since disco put his system in, they give up way too many point blank chances, 2 on 1's and breakaways, disco needs to tighten it up, this is his last chance. If RS remakes the team and they get bounced early again, disco could be in trouble.

Man I'm bummed!

Based on the thread title I was hoping to find some behind the scenes info from Mick McGeough or Paul Devorski or another "Actual" present or former "OFFICIAL"...

Instead we've got the 13th thread about UFAs... Zzzz...

Thanks Sam for... um... Zzzzzz
