...the influence of #66 on the contract that Sid is about to sign. You think that Sid wasn't learning a thing or two about loyalty during those years he bunked in Mario's house? Methinks he did. Of course I also think that the great city of Pittsburgh and it's citizenry had a lot to do with it also.

I don't think any of that did. He wants to win. By all accounts he's been that way since long before being involved with Pittsburgh or Lemieux.

Sid's going to become an owner after he retires as a Penguin.

Learned loyalty from 66? Don't see how that applies at all here. Mario took a ton of deferred money in his contract and the only way to collect it came from having to become a partial owner in a bankrupted franchise. He also put the team on the block to anyone who would buy it and relocate it.

Contract stipulates that Crosby inherits team if anything were to happen to Mario within the term of the deal.

I can definitely see that Mario helped play a part in influencing Sid but Sid has always had these beliefs.

sometimes people get the terms "loyalty" and "a large creditor in a bankruptcy" confused

Sid i think has always been his own man and made decisions on his own. Sure he listens to everyone around him, his Dad, his agent, Mario and his friends. But in the ned he went with what he thought was best for Sid. And he determined Pittsburgh was a place he likes to live in and enjoys what he has around him. Knowing the ownership wants to keep a winning team on the ice and he wants to win cups. This feels right to him.
And as a fan of his, i think its great.

Mario or not I'm almost certain Crosby would of done the same, just look at the way he acts in general. That guy loves hockey, it's far from being a money thing for him. Granted he does make a lot of it but compared to what he could be making you realize it really isn't a priority for him.

Was this actually done with the purpose of re-locating the team or was it a negotiating trick?
