I don't care at this point whether a full season is played or not, but I wouldn't mind the season and playoffs lasting longer into the summer if that's what it takes to have a season at all.

Them not talking to the media means they are not trying to win the public opinion over or play the blame game through the media. Once they do update the media hold your breath cause either they will announce a new CBA has been reached or the 2 sides are still way to far apart.

Simply put, if these 3 days of negotiation does not result in a deal. The season is over. Today is crucial.

Yeah I feel like a deal is going to be put together(or at least the framework for a deal that will be finalized soon) or hands are going to be thrown up in the air and negotiations will resume next calendar year. I feel like there are basically only those two ways for this week to end.

I was listening to XM and they said that while it is optimistic they are talking, they still have a lot of work to do. They wouldnt' be surprised if there was one more blowup before a deal is done.

Said the league seems to want to get this doen to get a legit number of games in (ie. around 60-65) for the season, and time is running out, but there is a reason they didn't cancel the December games. They still have that one last card. But the NHLPA is viewing the NHL wanting to get this done as leverage and may push harder on some issues.

They can still cancel the December games, which may happen if nothing is done this round, but until you get into January, there is still some time.

The fear is that both sides are willing to wait unitl it gets to the minimum number of games to save the season.

I read on another site the players want more contracting rights since its giving in on the 50/50 split. I would assume contracting rights are lenght of the deal, UFA age and things of that nature. But i know the league is holding strong on the actual cap hit of the deal being locked. No Kovalchuk type deals, hidding contracts in the minors. Things like that. It all depends on the wording so GMs can't find loop holes. The league doesn't want another Weber type thing to happen either.

Dan Rosen ‏@drosennhl
Fehr was asked about the "make-whole" provision and did not disclose anything. He stressed he would not discuss what is being discussed.

I know what you mean but it does show respect to the negotiation process and to the other party involved. The NHL is doing the same.

I would love for one of them to walk out of the room and give us insight on what happened or even positive view would be great. But if this is what it takes to get a deal done, then so be it.

Silence is good at this point.

Meeting 4 days in a row is also good.

It's a process. Not going to happen overnight.

I consider the silence from both parties to be the real story. For weeks it was posturing on both sides, and now that they're apparently seriously negotiating, all involved have since stopped being clown shoes.

At least they're letting us know "We're done for today and we're going back at it tomorrow", rather than leaving guys like LeBrun, Dreger, etc. wondering if they're still in the meeting or not.

Louis Jean ‏@LouisJean_TVA
Told NHL didn't reject PA proposals. Offered detailed counter on rev sharing, make whole, etc. Both side are bargainning. Outcome unknown.

What's more interesting:

Louis Jean ‏@LouisJean_TVA
Bill Daly and Steve Fehr will talk in the morning to set a start time for tomorrow's session. The location will not be kept secret.

I read that too. Read an article that today's was private, but media found them. Maybe because they figure they'll find them anyway. Or maybe because there will be an announcement?
