Honestly this seems way too good to be true. If it does turn out that Burkle "saves" the season, how many players will want to come play for him? I hear he made a good impression. Maybe we get some big free agents out of this. I need to stop before I believe. I want to believe.

They've met twice in a row before. Not sure how its too good to be true. It seems that today was a step somewhere though. Forward, backward, I don't really care as long as something is happening.

Except he flies on a plane called Air F$%k One with skanky models. Too much tabloid potential

I am optimistic because right now Fehr wasnt in the room. Just wondering what Burkle (or whomever) said to them that would be
so much different than they already should know:

"Look boys, the league has too many teams losing or barely making money. Im sorry that Toronto and the Rangers make bank. I really am. But you to my left who I never heard of, you make 1/10th of what Sid makes. Life isnt fair. The NFL doesnt even guarantee contracts and they get less % than you for twice as many players. You get guaranteed contracts, 50% of the money and will average over $2 million a piece while most of our teams, with a more percentage points of revenue sharing will be able to compete".

Players: "Oh way that makes total sense? You mean if Brady never could play after 2008 and his injury he would lost out on 50% of his contract or $30 million dollars? And if Sids head, errrr, neck didnt heal he would have still got the last of his? Wow, this is a good deal, I should stop listening to BizNasty, his tweets didnt explain it to me like this, and Fehr abused me"

Things must have progressed significantly to change plans like this. Good job Burkle.

Jeremy Jacobs witnessed too much progress being made, so he decided to call in Gary and Don to make certain that it doesn't continue.

One thing is very clear: Crosby and Burkle are working together for the good of a season taking place. Wonder if Fehr or Bettman approve.

I'm not sure whether to be excited they were called back (significant progress was made) or really, really upset (all progress today will be undone by their participation).

Bettman and Fehr go back to sitting in front of a lonely NHL 94 cartridge, arguing over whether or not to play with offsides turned on.

Crosby: my neck meat is fully healed and I'm ready to go.
Burkle: listen you canuck fat cats , I was in the grocery business. When you have a prime product, you only make money when you actually sell it.

IMO good news would include all parties at the meeting tonight and an early presser scheduled for tomorrow. 1pm seems late tks give good news.

The 1 PM presser was already scheduled regardless of whether or not the two sides met; it's right after the BoG meeting.

If Burkle is able to get these sides closer and get a deal done he should run for president.

Burkle just told them all that according to the Mayans the world will end on Dec 21st. Do they want to play hockey before they die?
