Btw, if the lockout is ending I take full credit for posting the beer girls. Or maybe it was indeed Doc's tantrum that did the trick. In other words...

KDPomp with the retweet from philly!
Leave it to Ilya B to break the news.

Sure hope he's right, but I need a slightly more credible source.

No negotiating meeting has been set, per TSN.

While it's not the most credible source, I can't imagine why he would opt out of his contract if he didn't have some concrete info the NHL was actually close to ending this thing. Unless he's just incredibly stupid, which is also a possibility.

Josh Rimer @JoshRimerHockey
If and when a new CBA is signed, word on the street is the NHL will make Centre Ice free for the season.

Dan Rosen @drosennhl
There will be no bargaining session between the NHL and NHLPA tonight. Plan is for sides to reconvene tomorrow at a TBD time.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
NHL has asked players to respond to all issues collectively and doesn't want to have to negotiate item by item. We will see how PA counters.
I already don't like the sound of this.

Nobody tells Fehr how to respond to issues, collectively or individually!

I'm confused, is that just another way of saying they don't want to negotiate at all, just say yes or no (probably no) to whatever the PA gives back to them? There's so many components of this deal, I don't see how negotiation is possible if you aren't going "item by item."

No reason to negotiate item by item if there isn't a possibility of some sort of general agreement I guess.

Yeah, what are they going to do for the season ticket holders that both sides seemed to forget about?

It's a good move, the NHL has moved on a lot of issue the PA wanted, by asking for a new proposal they PA can't say well we are fine here but what about this.
