Until you get to the ending part...
Section 14. part 3, sentence 4. Once said CBA is signed and all parties are in agreeence of said document. Gary Betman must kiss my hairy butt cheek. Then the deal is finalized.
Which butt cheek? Please send over a proposal and you'll hear back and
may get your kiss by Valentine's Day. xo

There was a comment that this offer is much shorter than the owners'. In a length of reading sense; low double digit # of pages vs 300.

We appear to have a date now. A point of no return as Chris Botta called it.
Chris Botta @ChrisBottaNHL
As expected, Bettman confirms NHL Point of No Return: January 11. Good.
Renaud Lavoie @RenLavoieRDS
Gary Bettman confirmed a deal has to be done by January 11th.

So... should we read as an incomplete response -- which would be contrary to what owners asked for, but expected from the Fehr's -- or mostly agree with NHL offer and only have key items to address?

Good news... first time there hasn't been a disagreement on approach, so that sounds like a bargaining mode.

Any chance it happens before January 11 and the season starts before January 19? If a deal is reached today (doubtful), would they extend training camp or start the season sooner?

Expecting a deal today might be overly optimistic, but seeing as most of the players have at least kept themselves in shape, there's probably no need for an extendend camp. Molinari twittered that Crosby would like 2 exhibiton games, though.

If they get a deal done today, they could start camp on Saturday...go one week and then play a 50 game schedule.
I hope this CBA is 10 years+.

Still think its to early for that... I am so sick of all the drama both sides have given its hard to feel positive like somehting might get done. If the NHLPA only handed over 15 or so pages it doesn't sound like they re-wrote it but just changed a few parts. But who know what kind of changes they made to a few of thoes parts.

I'd say it tops out at the owners proposed 10 with an opt out after 8. The players want less than that and the owners have put that out on the table. So the one that is signed is probably an 8 year agreement.

Right about now i would be preparing a boat load of wings, waiting for my buds and their wives and kids to show up for a winter classic "new years day" party. No classic, no party. save the money. But would rather spend it and be watching hockey with them today.

Catching up on Twitter and the insiders sound very optimistic that a deal will be reached by the end of the week.

I can't trust Hockeyy Insiderr after the trade deadline last year, but he seems optimistic.

Yeah he's hard to trust. But, he has these fine little details that make me believe he's either great at lying, or he really does have some inside knowledge. "Christmas break for players will be at least 3 days." If that turns out to be true, he's got some inside info. Hope he's right!
