Are all teams in the lottery and not just the bottom 10? I mean, I wouldn't complain if the pens won the lottery, but it would be pretty lame if the SC winning team won the lottery and got "the next one" instead of a team that legitimately needs them.
Used to be bottom 5 could get #1 pick. By "all" now, they mean all teams in the lottery. i.e. just the 14 teams that missed the playoffs. So we don't have to worry about the best teams getting the "next one."

Perhaps a stupid question, but was the federal mediator US, Canadian, or each? Negotiations were in NYC and not TOR, correct?

The hatred never wen away. Pop
Paul Martin made you forget the "t"
Which is ironic since its the "D" that Martin usually forgets.
Eh? Eh?

Ok i say to do something different, all 30 teams make the playoffs. the confrence winner gets a bye, then the 15 vs 2, 14 vs 3, 13 vs 4 etc...
to keep things competitve you give the higher seeds more home games during the playoffs, instead of the 2-2-1-1-1 set up you give some of the higher seeds a 3-2-2

Do it for the lockout season, then when the bottom 4 teams get swept in embarrassing fashion, nix it for the next real season.

If they trade for Luongo, I'd bet on the AHL team.

If they do a 30 game playoff, they should at least let the ahl 1st place have a play in game with them.

how about you make a Eastern AHL allstar team and Western AHL allstar team to outfit the 32 team format. I don't think even the best AHL team could compete with a NHL squad, well maybe Columbus.

If the AHL team happened to win such a series, it would be a complete debacle and embarrassment to the NHL (much less victim team).

The KHL must be pissed, the lockout ends a week before their all star game with all the star NHL players supposed to be in it.

The true goal of the lockout was to troll the KHL All-Star game?!
