Johnson & Thiessen ranked in 20 worst players (KuklasKorner)

The only teams with multiple goalies on that list are Tampa Bay (Roloson + Garon), NY Islanders (Montoya + DiPietro), Toronto (Reimer + Gustavsson), and the Pens (Johnson + Thiessen). That's some pretty poor company.....

Pens are also the only team on the list that doesn't have their starting goalie included.

Misleading thread title. worst goalies, not players.

That depends how you want to classify the Islanders' starter. I'd give that nod to Nabokov.

Regardless, it's a pretty clear indicator that things need to tighten up defensively.

Yes and no. The list is dominated by goalies, but Nino Niederreiter and Tim Jackman are also there.

Calibration and environment.

Not overtly useful for goaltenders, doesn't take influential environmental factors into account. Examples: Ondrej Pavelec, terrific this year for Winnipeg in a desolate waste-land. Game stealer when he was on. Certainly some bad games now and again, but not enough for him to be reasonably considered on the list. On the "best 20" side, Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott both top-13, systemic products (note: Elliott was bottom-5 last year when on a poor defensive team). Mike Smith rated #1 player in the league, but no context re: Dave Tippett and counterparts (Jason LaBarbera).

Especially regarding goalies, it's merely a stat-grab (save pct.) and nothing else. Doesn't have much (if any) value in terms of player evaluation.

Its total crap. How Thiessen made that list as a rookie call-up in his first games, that's a terrible sample size. Someone did not do their homework, hell, they skipped class!
