Trips to Wheeling and Wilkes-Barre

So I posted a thread in Pens Affiliates but it only got 70 views since like last month, so I'm reposting here.

In light of the NHL lockout, does anyone want to plan an LGP trip to see a Wilkes-Barre/Wheeling game?

Obviously for those of use closer to Pittsburgh, Wheeling is probably more enticing, but I think a trip to Wlkes-Barre would be decent as well over a weekend. It's up to you guys, we could probably get a bus charter together, and tickets in order and do a group-buy. Here's my vision to make it more than just a hockey game...

Wilkes-Barre Trip

October 20th Home Opener vs. Bridgeport (Saturday night game)
November 16th vs. Bridgeport (Friday night game)
November 24th vs. Toronto (Friday night game)

Back-to-back Home Games

December 7th vs. Hershey (Friday night game)
December 8th (my birthday) vs. Portland (Saturday night game)

The weekend of Dec 7/8 might be nice, back-to-back weekend home games.

Wheeling Trip

Home-opener Weekend

October 26th vs. Reading (Friday night game)
October 27th vs. Reading (Saturday night game)

I'm just throwing some of these games out as ideas, but a bigger consensus is obv. needed, plus we need to know who all wants to go to meet up. If you don't want to do a charter bus, we could all meet-up in our respective locations and do a group road-trip coming from different areas; plan to meet somewhere in the respective towns; plan a dinner and hotels if anyone wants to stay over night (if we do back-to-back). I'm sure you guys did something similar in 05 so suggestions would be welcome. PM me for more details or whatever.

Great idea doc - I usually take the kids to one WBS game a year and it's fun - so I'm interested in doing one of these trips...

I would recommend chartering a bus for WBS, since it's such a haul to get there from Pittsburgh.

Wheeling is an easy drive, however. No point in getting a bus for that.

I highly recommend WBS. Both times my wife and I went last year, we were sitting right down on the glass just above the goal line, for a really reasonable price. Had a blast.

Wheeling is a lot of fun as well. It's a tiny building, but it can really get raucous.

And they have dollar Yuengling nights.

If you are planning a trip to Wheeling you might want to check out the hotel situation first. A lot (Most) of the hotels are booked full all the time due to all of the drilling activity going on in the area.

People do realize Wilkes-Barre and Hershey are this year's Outdoor Classic? One ticket gets you into the Alumni Game Jan. 19 and the Pens-Bears game on Jan. 20 at Hersheypark Stadium.
