As I recall, The Snapshot's boy Tangradi would need to clear waivers.
I'm guessing that Tangradi and Jeffrey are the 12/13 and Beau stays in WBS (for the near future).

With the current lineup, the Pens look like another playoff contender, but out in the first round. More than anything, they are soft on defense, and have no true shutdown pair.

I bet there is some kind of amnesty in the agreement that allows us to dump Martin.

Kunitz and Crosby will play together. Book it. Tangradi/Kennedy/Bennet/Cooke will play with Neal and Geno.

Aside from dupuis logging double duty, I call this the Vegas favorite.

Well if Sid gets 1K, somebody else must be getting a bunch to, so I'm saying Geno gets 1.1K.

Agreed....although I would probably switch Tangradi and Kennedy....
Team needs 1 more top 6 forward and some muscle on the D....

I actually think Cooke is more likely to creep up onto Malkin's line than Kennedy is. Kunitz worked well with them last year, and Cooke is a similar crash-and-bang type of player. Kennedy is too much of a puck carrier to work well with Malkin IMO

i have a feeling Jeffery might be a wild card player, last year was kind of a wash because of his knee injury he never quite got going, but before he got hurt he was playing well.
I could honestly see
Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Jeffery- Malkin - Neal
Cooke - Sutter - Kennedy
Glass - Vitale - Adams
X Tangradi (Fill in on on all lines)
Orpik - Letang
Martin - Niskanen
Dupuis - Engelland
Or
Despress - Letang
Martin - Orpik
Dupius - Engelland

I still say you gotta give Sid and Neal a try..
Jeffrey - Crosby - Neal
Kunitz- Malkin - Dupuis
Cooke - Sutter - Kennedy
Glass - Vitale - Adams
x-Tangradi
Despres - Letang
Orpik - Niskanen
Martin - Engalland
This leaves Lovejoy out... I still think Despres is more likely than Lovejoy to crack the lineup on a regular basis.

At the deadline, trade a 3rd round pick for Gonchar (shouldn't cost much more if we can just sign him as a UFA) and then trade Tangradi, Despres, TK, and a 1st for Iginla.
FORWARDS
James Neal ($5.000m) / Evgeni Malkin ($8.700m) / Chris Kunitz ($3.725m)
Pascal Dupuis ($1.500m) / Sidney Crosby ($8.700m) / Jarome Iginla ($7.000m)
Matt Cooke ($1.800m) / Brandon Sutter ($2.067m) / Dustin Jeffrey ($0.575m)
Tanner Glass ($1.100m) / Joe Vitale ($0.550m) / Craig Adams ($0.675m)
Steve MacIntyre ($0.625m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Sergei Gonchar ($5.500m) / Brooks Orpik ($3.750m)
Paul Martin ($5.000m) / Kris Letang ($3.500m)
Matt Niskanen ($2.300m) / Deryk Engelland ($0.567m)
Ben Lovejoy ($0.525m) /
GOALTENDERS
Marc-Andre Fleury ($5.000m)
Tomas Vokoun ($2.000m)

This lockout lasted so long I forgot how little we did this offseason.
The team actually got worse on paper since that loss in RD1 to Philly.
Still incredibly soft on defense. Still very small at forward. Should make the playoffs as usual but it's hard to go in a run without a few big punishing forwards, and crease-clearing toughness on defense.
Niskanen, Martin, Despres, Lovejoy are 4 or your top 6 D. Remember opposing forwards around our crease and in our zone last year never having to worry about paying a price. That bothered me.

I agree. It's fun that hockey's back, but now we're back to the reality that we got definitively worse on paper over the offseason.
Are we doomed? No. But this team needs a totally new approach if they want to win this year.
Though I disagree about lovejoy. That dude isn't a regular this year
