It would be a solid third pairing. Maybe.

So does this mean Niskanen will not play in a Top 4 role?

If this is true, Despres would have to be paired with Letang. If not, then Niskanen, sunce he prefers the left side.
Despres/Letang
Orpik/Martin
Niskanen/Engelland
Strait/Bortuzzo
or
Niskanen/Letang
Orpik/Martin
Strait/Engelland
Lovejoy/Bortuzzo
Not sure how the rest of the D would be paired...

Kennedy with Neal and Malkin, Kennedy needs to learn to give the puck to Geno and go. He usually holds onto the puck and wants to shoot himself. He has to learn with thoes guys you give and go.

My guess is that Despres stays down in WBS, at least for a little while. He apparently hasn't played all that well this season.
I'm intrigued to see where Dustin Jeffrey fits in. Promising 20+ game stint two years ago wiped away by a knee injury. He says he finally feels healthy again and if it shows in his performance, he seems like a guy who could fit on Malkin's wing, pushing Kennedy back to the third line. Regardless, if he doesn't perform this year he's forever doomed to be a replaceable tweener who is probably in his last year with the franchise.

Out of the available players I see Cooke being the best fot with Malkin and Neal due to his defense as well as keeping the other team honest. Plus the guy can score some goals.
Kennedy doesn't have the two way game, Tangradi the speed, and Bennett and Jeffrey the experience. My only question then is Glass up to playing on the 3rd line? I think so.
Cooke-Malkin-Neal
Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Glass-Sutter-Kennedy
Jeffrey/Tangradi-Vitale-Adams
Jeffrey can actually be placed anywhere in the lineup and do OK, it all depends who clicks in camp.

Always amuses me when people put Crosby on the second line in their lineup. Literally only one person whose line would be above Crosby's. That player is retired.

Well I think it's okay to believe that Malkin+Neal is a better combination than Crosby+anybody else on the team. 90+ goals between the two.
