Soooooo...players have 5 days to get themselves ready (less if they open with a road game)? I know the vast majority are either playing overseas or keeping in condition on their own but this certainly opens the door to plenty of muscle pulls and strains. I know they gotta vote on the agreement and everything but they should be getting in there sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't get too excited about this yet, everyone keeps tweeting about all teams playing opening night on 19th and earlier say schedule would be conference games only.
Well, you can't do that with each conference having odd number (15) of teams.

certainly a different camp from norm. I feel most players have been finding ice and keeping in camp condition at least.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: NHL sent out memo to teams tonight saying Jan 19 puck drop is most probable, however if ratification process goes fast, Jan 15 still in play

training camp saturday open to the fans???
Say yes, GM Shero!

Letter to fans from pens ownership/GM Shero and players.
To our Penguins Fans and Community:
We offer our apology. There is nothing we can say to explain or excuse what has happened over the past four months.
However, now that the NHL is back, we want to assure you that the Pittsburgh Penguins will do everything we can to regain your trust and show how much we value your amazing support.
The sounds of skates churning across the ice and pucks banging against the glass are returning to CONSOL Energy Center. That means a healthy Sidney Crosby is about to rejoin NHL MVP Evgeni Malkin, first-team All-Star James Neal, Marc-Andre Fleury, Kris Letang, Brooks Orpik and others as we begin our quest to bring the Stanley Cup back to Pittsburgh.
We want to thank you for your patience and your loyalty to the Penguins. We hope to repay it many times over. Our commitment to winning the Stanley Cup and our commitment to you has not changed.
We look forward to seeing you at CONSOL Energy Center.

Ken Wiebe, of the Winnipeg Sun, had this to say:
For all of you asking, Dustin Byfuglien looks to be in even better shape than when I sat down with him this fall. No reason to be concerned
