WTF ROOT?

I Live in freaking Indianapolis, IN with Direct TV paid for ROOT sports and can't get the Pens pregame on ROOT. Says, "program not available in your area" Really? That's BS.. because I flip it over to MSG and guess what? I sure can get the Rangers pregame..

I sent a nasty tweet to ROOT.. why in the world would they blackout people that live no where near Pittsburgh? You would think they would want us to watch..

I called directv and they said it was the NHL blacking it out. I'm in the viewing area and have the sports pack. Last year they blacked out NHLN. Maybe this is the new policy this year? Either way, it sucks.

More info from DirectTV - ROOT is blocking all content related to Pens and non-national games will only be on the Center Ice channels... major change, as I always record pre-game, game, and post-game on ROOT... not happy and hope they clean this up...

I just sent ROOT an email and plan on calling them tomorrow. This just really makes me not happy on my birthday!!!! I have the NHL network so, that's not an issue. I'm watching the game.

I don't understand why I'm getting blacked out considering I'm part of the "regional viewing area" and get Root in the sports pack on Directv. In the past, they always blacked out the NHLN feed. Ugh.

Right. I just don't get that since I'm considered the "Pittsburgh area" and got the games on Root all last year (through DirecTV's sports pack) that I would be blacked out now.

DirecTV is the ONLY way I could get Pens games. Considered in the viewing area but don't natively get Root. The games therefore would be blacked out on Center Ice.

I don't have DirecTV but the fact that the PREGAME is blacked out is beyond ridiculous... All these restrictions and blackouts are so insane.

I'm forced to watch tonight's game on NHL Network who plaster their ridiculous graphics with news and scores from other game's at the bottom of the screen, taking up a good 5% or more of the actual broadcast. I guess the geniuses at NHL Network haven't figured out that following the puck and the play during a hockey game is kind of important. The NHL Network is such a joke. And while I'm at it, I'm so sick of Kathryn Tappen's voice.

The blackout of the game was expected because it is on the NHL Network. What is new this year is the Black out of pre/post games shows.... Supposedly their is a new contract with RSP and DIRECTV which own RSP that these will be blacked-out unless you are in the Pittsburgh RSP viewing area. I will be cancelling my Sports package with DIRECTV and save some money unless they fix this stuff now... but I doubt they will unless everyone calls and complains non stop.

I called and got upset with the first rep. He told me that I would only have access to the region in which I lived. I proved him wrong by flipping around to FS Detroit, SUN Sports, etc...

I asked to be escalated to a supervisor.

I talked to a lady and said that if the pregame blackouts continue I would first call to voice my displeasure, then cancel my regional sports subscription because it would literally be worthless to me.

What are you talking about researching what? the Pregrame was blacked-out... the Post-Game probably would have too if people weren't beating the crap out of DIRECTV, ROOTSPORTSPIT and PENGUINS contacts they had.

I will be pretty upset if Root blacks it out the entire season. Like I said, DirecTV will lose some of my money because of Root's policy.

It was probably blaclednout so you watch nhl network. You do understand that it's not blacked out so you can't watch period, it's so you watch the network they want you to watch...
