So, now after 2 games, have anyone noticed a change in our game plan?

One can think that after the Philly series last playoffs, we should change the style a bit?

Looks kinda the same ...... 1st period: guns blazing, score goals, 2nd period: play even, let them score one goal, 3rd period: hang on for dear life.

Yea probably to early for a deeper analysis, but interesting to see if there are some early notes of change.

The forecheck isn't always set to "full blast" we 'trapped' (dun, dun, dun...) through most of the third period against Philadelphia, not uncommon when protecting a road lead. I see more instances where if the forecheck isn't there (maybe after a line change, for instance) we'll set up in something of 1-2-2. Again, though, it's a little early to tell considering these are still "warm up" games and they were both on the road.

I have noticed a change in Martin and Orpiks play. That's about it. I just hope when Sid and Geno start scoring goals the rest of the team does not fall asleep and leans on them.

I think I heard on pens hotline or something similar that they DID make changes to the puck retrieval system, at least in WBS. If I remember correctly they were talking to an AHL D man about the adjustments.

From what I saw (admittedly just off and on) there seemed to be more simplified play like Crosby said -- less cutesy crap, not trying to be too fancy with the puck.

Yep. It was funny during training camp to hear HCDB talk about this system where the forwards set up on the low side board when trying to bring the puck out and then watching the Pens do it every single shift the whole Flyers game. It really seemed to work wonders.

Well, I would, but Bylsma's ego means that he won't allow me to make the obvious thread adjustment.

What was noticeable though was that there were plenty of Pens working inside their own zone, better movement as a team OUT of the zone, and a glaring lack of opponent players breezing through the Pens D zone unmolested.

So, more of an effort thing than any style changes.

Could have simply been matching up ON THE ROAD against two top teams that caused them to hunker down and play more responsibly.

Let's see how this pans out as the schedules works in some bad teams.

This was going to be my response as well. 2.00 team GAA isn't exactly staking out uncharted territory at this point.
