This morning the NHL announced a scoring change on Pittsburgh’s first goal of the game against Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon. Paul Martin is now credited as the goal scorer.
The goal should read:
Goal: Martin (1) Assists: Niskanen (1); Sutter (1) PPG – Time: 4:40 of 1st period
The assist for Brandon Sutter is his first point as a Pittsburgh Penguin.

I knew that did not hit Kennedy's stick. I can't believe people thought it did.

Yeah it definitely didn't hit his stick, but it still got me a coupon to GNC because I picked TK to score the first goal

Yeah it was pretty obvious it didn't hit his stick but the defenders stick. Pens have been a bit lucky to get one goal in each of the first two games that hit the opposition and went in the net.

I couldn't believe I got through the whole broadcast without it being corrected, then when I was talking about it before the game yesterday, my friend argued that it was Kennedy's goal and sure enough, it was still his. I was stunned.

thanks for the heads up. I might have missed it otherwise. Weird being two mornings later, but I guess that's a Monday AM thing in the league offices.

I'm PO'd about this cause "0% of fans" picked Martin and I had really good chance of winning. Not sure how officials missed this. It is clear as day on the replay.

Yeah, it was really clear, but I picked Dupuis, so meh.

NHL Conspiracy.... The Pens want Martin to appear better than he is, so they awarded him the goal?

I assume there will be a Pick A Pen controversy as well?

Well I'm red-faced. I was certain in the GDT that Kennedy got a stick on it.

I thought so too the first 10 times and then saw it again yesterday from a different angle.
It hit a Cryers stick.

I'm disappointed in you two. I mean, it was so obvious. It simply doesn't get any obviouser.

There was a contest, Grover mentioned in pre-game for fans to choose who would score the first goal. I assume a drawing would occur of those who picked correctly for opening night tickets / limo / whole deal.
Of the 2 people who picked Martin, I wonder which one will win if they didn't already award one of the 10 that picked TK?

I was so shocked they hadn't changed it before the end of the game. Glad they got it right.

I picked Martin and the Pens sent a text saying they'll be awarding a winner shortly. I'm glad to see the Pens are doing this.

Obviously I'm pleased that columbia was wrong. Unfortunately, in this particular case, it turns out I was, too.

23 posts about a scoring change. Are all of you relatives of P. Martin or T. Kennedy?

I think the conversation is about the NHL's egregious scoring error taking about 40 hours too many to be made correct. I really doubt it has anything to do with the players involved.
