Niederreiter anybody?

Postby BCG51585 on Tue Jan 22, 2013 5:47 pm

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nhl/story/_ ... ource-says

I don't care about what we would have to give up or if he would even be a good fit here. Just to hear the name NINO NIEEEEEDEREITERRRR on a nightly basis is enough for me. I say...

Do it RS!

He had 1 point last year in 55 games so his value can't be that high. If this "rumor" isn't just posturing coming from his agent, I'd say take a shot.

You generally don't trade prospects like that in your division...I'm not in love with Niederreiter, so it's likely that another team would outbid my offer for him, if I was the GM of the Penguins...

He's also not very fast, his first couple steps are "eh" - so, the board seems to want speed because Tangradi is not fast, therefore, they want fast. El Nino is slow.

WE NEED TO GET THIS GUY NOW!

Spoiler:
I can honestly say that I don't remember anything about him. Demanding a trade at such a young age seems a bit odd.

He's already been ruined by the Islanders.

"Hey, we need to develop this young, dynamic offensive player. What should we do?"

"I know! Let's call him up from the minors, where he has been the go-to guy and BURY him on the fourth line, never to see light of day again!"

"Yes! After all, we've got enough offensive weapons after Tavares and Moulson, like... Is Jon Simm around? He's an excellent first-line player."

Boy this sounds familiar... Why can't I put my finger on it?

*Disclaimer* I in no way am endorsing Tangradi as a dynamic offensive player. Just pointing out the similarity until this point of how we were trying to develop an offensive prospect.

In his defense, wouldn't pretty much anybody demand a trade from the Islanders? ;)

I still think MPS is worth a look at, but it wouldn't solve any immediate problems.

A guy like Ryder is a much more realistic option right now.

I'm assuming you're talking about Magnus Pääjärvi? Nothing against you, but I don't know why people don't type out the full name (or at least last name) when introducing a player in a discussion. It took me a good while to figure out who you meant, and I'm sure there are a lot of others who came up empty in their thoughts. Magnus Pääjärvi isn't exactly a household name, and MPS certainly is far from a well-recognized abbreviation.

End of rant...

Paajarvi, Niderreiter. Either one or another offensively skilled young forward and I'm happy. We've got nothing in that department and a hole in the lineup. The cap space is there. Do it. There are so many productive, cheap young guns doing well in the league at the moment it's silly we shouldn't be able to land one. And I'm not only talking highly coveted first rounders.

The Pens' pool of really good prospects is so unbalanced I'm torn on BPA in these last two drafts. Or not, I know and agree BPA is the right move but do shake things up a little. Get a winger already.

Ryder seems like the opposite of what the Pens usually look for in a forward.

Actual goal-scoring ability? :pop:

I don't see why a Kunitz-Crosby-Ryder line wouldn't be effective. There aren't 100 Dustin Browns out there to acquire who can do everything.

If he can't make the team for the Islanders, is he really gonna shine on our second line?

We have people to fill the Malkin / Neal / ??? line. Tangradi, Jeffrey, Bennett — they all will get solid looks. If none work out, the trade deadline looms.

We aren't going to dump Tangradi after 2 games. Remember, Chris Bourque lasted 20 games for goodness sake. If he doesn't show it this year, then he's gone. But he's going to get his look. We don't need to trade for anyone right now.
