I'm inferring it was a schennshow of epic proportions.

What was it... not-so-sunny D? Impotent O? Wilted Flower? Combo?

If Tangradi wasn't acquired via trade or drafted so highly, he wouldn't be getting the chance he's getting. Jeffrey isn't the answer on that line either. Very interested to see how this plays out. I like lines 3 and 4 as they are, I don't want to mess with every line just to fix that one hole.

I have to say if this is Tangradi's idea of taking the bull by the horns...

What a ****, when your captain leads the team in turnovers, I guess the rest of the team just has to follow suit, eh?

Third most embarrassing thing of the night, right behind the Pens effort and the "officiating".

Looks like Toronto cared more and was ready to play us, while our guys were hungover coming back from a road trip. I would not make much of this miserable outing, but wish the coaches use it as a lesson. What worries me though is Sid's passing.

My only comment about tonight's game is that it's a little disturbing to me that the team decided to take a night off just three games into the season, in front of a fired up crowd.

I mean, if they can't get motivated and pumped up for this game, they've got problems. I understand teams have bad nights. But ever since 2010 when HCDB took full control, this has been a disturbing trend. Turnovers, bad penalties, lack of discipline. Nothing has changed.

Is Sid trying to do too much or is his timing/decision making still a bit on the fritz? I guess the latter is a byproduct of the former.

There is such a thing as "over-motivation", Bandit. It runs on an inverted U scale.

In this case, perhaps the Pens were TOO pumped up at the beginning of the game (I noticed it, at least). You grip the stick a little tighter, you try to force things. It looks like they aren't motivated to some (because of the poor play), but the same can happen if they're over-energized. Perhaps the emotion was at a 10, when (for most players), it needed to be around a 7 or an 8.

Just because they play poorly doesn't mean they aren't motivated. Perhaps, it is the opposite, and the players need to be able to find their "zone". A coach cannot help them do this. It is up to the player to know what their optimal arousal level is and how to get back to it if they become "too focused".
