or first game with a new team, or first goal for said player of the year. it's uncanny.

Not really because, most of the "star" players of the Islanders, Rangers, & Flyers have changed a lot since 2005. I would think its someone on the Devils, Ovechkin, Spezza or Alfredsson, St. Louis or Lecavalier.
I have a feel going forward that Rick Nash is good for a goal a game vs the Pens.

Not necessarily, as most divisional opponents haven't had longstanding stars recently to account for the points. Think, for example, about Philly, which has been a turnstile of players over the last 10 years. It's possible, though, that Richards or Carter could be on the list, and maybe even high up on it. The Islanders, Rangers, and Devils also have had a lot of turnover. I would say, if I had to guess, that no more than 50% of the list would include divisional rivals.
Some suggestions:
- Mike Richards
- Alex Ovechkin
- Scott Hartnell
- Daniel Alfredsson
- Jason Spezza
- Eric Staal
- Jaromir Jagr
