How is pointing out that he's not 100% at fault for every little thing people decide to blame him for "defending him to the death"?

To the death of the team every playoff year. If thats what he meant, its not dramatic at all.

Has this guy taken ownership of anything? Is this what he teaches the players? Fantasy and excuses?

Is anyone even arguing that he is a great coach? Defending him does not equal saying he is a great coach.

Anyone that thinks this team can accept 3 straight early exits then the worst conference finals elimination in history and still argue that the coach should say is suggesting that he's great, yes.

That's a pretty ballsy statement, but words in quite a few people's mouth like that.

i don't really like bylsma, but if you're going on a message board to find out why a guy is a good coach, and expect to hear something more nuanced than, "he won a cup and a jack adams, and was selected to coach in the olympics", you're barking up the wrong tree.

Its no more ballsy than someone saying that a coach that has coached a team to this much disappointment year after year should have another year to keep his job.

Since he hasn't been fired, he is great. That's your point?

He's the kind of guy that would have kept Pitt in the Big East.

BTW: Does the OP post here anymore or did extenuating circumstances lead to his departure?

I'm not making a point. I'm interpreting that people that argue that he should keep his job think that he is great. The reason that I interpret that his was is simply: If they don't think he's great, why would they have this much patience with him?

Fair enough. Along with that comes an indifference towards legacy for certain players and the team in general. I don't respect that.
