I think it's a mix. Shero needs to get couple better players in but I still feel most of the blame rests on HCDB. At least a new coach would shake things up a little and is easier to do that shake up the roster.

It's 2 terrible, highly disturbing losses. The team looks very disorganized. The defensemen are scrambling. First passes coming out of the defensive zone are broken up way too frequently. And the fact that Tangradi continues to play while Jeffrey continues to sit out is a total joke. What has Tangradi done to deserve this over Jeffrey? Bylsma needs to address some of these problems immediately else we're losing on Sunday and it's a 2-3 record.

I couldn't agree more and in a 48 game sched, a three game losing streak is greatly magnified...

Just weird how well they played defensively the first two games against the Rangers and the Flyers, and just fell apart the last two games. The problem was they did an absolute horrendous job exiting their own end. They had turn over after turn over, and got to the point where I was getting really ****** off. Maybe a new coach could shake things up a bit, and not trying DJ or giving BB a shot on the second line is just retarded. Tangradi's had his shot, he doesn't have the speed nor the forechecking ability to even think of playing on the second line. One way or another a SOLID top four D man needs to be brought in along with another winger for Crosby so they can reunite Kunitz, Malkin, and Neal. I just don't think with the D pairs as they are right now, are going to be good enough to be successful in the playoffs this year.

Ignoring systems and circumstance for a moment: I don't feel like Bylsma has good control over the team. If the players want to do something, they seem to be able to do it. Early in that Winnipeg game, they actually seemed to be playing pretty good hockey behind the red line, forwards were coming in deeper, they were playing pretty well...and as the game went on, it seemed to get looser and looser...I just wonder how much time Bylsma gets out of his pre-game speech...some coaches get 60 minutes of what they want, I wonder if Bylsma gets even 15? He lost control during the Flyers series, he lost control late last regular season it seems, and I questioned whether he could regain control over the team and I'm not sure that I've seen that quite yet. Assuming of course, they aren't playing the way he wants them to play...

Just about every coach gets fired eventually - but this isn't happening anytime soon for DB.

Also - It also looks like I'm in the minority with Shero - I think he's done a nice job with this team - and will make some moves I'm sure, prior to the playoffs.

GMRS gets no free pass. In fact, HCDB has to play who he has...comrie, poni, connor, rupp, ashom...ad nauseum...RS has continually failed to get the compliment of players that he needs for this core. The only reason he hasnt been fired yet is because he brought in bill guerin...that saved his job...as far as I am concerned, people would be asking for his head on a platter if it was Patrick...he survived for many years off of the Francis trade, but GMRS is running on fumes in this fan's mind. In addition, hed coaches in the Nhl have a very short shelf life

The Pens need a trade, but not on offense. It's time to get that physical Hal Gill type defenseman that can clear the net.

DB's style is getting him closer to the door if puck control and team defense isn't going to be his thing.

I'm not sure how having a Hal Gill will stop the forwards from being incredibly stupid with the puck on the break out and entering the offensive zone. You can pin both losses as a direct result of passing the puck to the other team wide open in the slot and doing a stupid drop pass near the blue line to allow a rush the other way both giving up a goal each the last two games which if they didn't happen we win.

This stuff they are doing wrong should not be happening to junior teams let alone NHL players. Neal, Malkin, Crosby and Kunitz are not stupid talentless players.

This looks just like what happened vs Philly when they abandoned an resemblance to any system and just started playing pond hockey. Is that on the players for not listening to Bylsma because they can't or won't because they feel their way is better?

No matter how good of a coach Bylsma might be if the players can't ay or chose not to play how he wants them to he will need to go. I haven't seen him able to reign the team in when they start panicing, if they have I don't remember. It's one thing to get overmatched and hang in there and come back, but when you dominate a period like he have seen numerous times then mail it in during the 2nd they don't get back to their game in the 3rd.

That's on coaching. Again, not saying Bylsma is a bad coach, although I have said it in the past, but I was wrong. He just might not be the right coach for this roster right now and part of that is on Shero to know what type of players his coach needs to be successful. Somehow I don't think Byslam has the roster he wants. If he does, we'll yikes.

If Brooks is the toughest stay at home defenseman you have in the playoffs on your roster, playoffs aren't going to matter much.

Boneheaded play by the Fs aside, Bylsma only has four legitimate NHL defensemen to work with.
That's on Shero, not DB.

Lovejoy and Engellend are legit but not for a Cup Contender.

But yes, Shero needs to get some better players to win a Cup but Bylsma needs to get who he has now not to be completely stupid on the ice.

I do not think that db is a good coach. We are slowly regressing every year and his answer always seems to be that we just need to get back to playing penguins hockey. I think that is just being arrogant and not respecting your opponent enough. Its basically telling your players to continue the same things and some how the outcome will be different. If is that simple then we should fire him and play without a coach. The definition of insanity is to do same things over and over, expecting different results.... Wow writing this makes me feel better some how...

True.. I'd add neither is a game plan manufactured to play hard for one period and back off the other two.
