They aren't stupid people, they know what they are doing.

nope. people that probably started watching hockey 4 or 5 years ago are definitely waaaay smarter than people who have spent their entire lives around elite level hockey

How do you know who has been watching hockey for how long? Is it embedded in our usernames?

People who spend their entire lives around hockey get fired all the time for not being able to create a winning situation. Sometimes it's the lack of talent and sometimes it's because they can't adjust their personal or game style to their personnel. Sometimes it's so obvious that the coach has lost the team or his system isn't working that it's intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer. When the same mistakes get made time and again over the course of two or more seasons it's reasonable to ask if the coach and GM are capable of putting a stop to it.

Some nights it looks like Dan's lost the team or he's not making corrections. I do think that most of what is wrong with the team could be fixed with some adjustments to personnel on the bottom two lines and some grit on defense (forwards and defensemen). I wouldn't fire Dan without some more time and some personnel changes. He's earned it.
