I think Despres is going to be a good player eventually, but this would be a good trade for the Pens were it to happen. Setoguchi would immediately fill a Pens need as a top-six winger, and his grit/size would be great for Malkin's line.

This isn't a rumor, this is simply connecting the dots. Russo claims that the Pens have soured on Despres and are seeking a top 6 winger. He mentions that the Wild need a puck moving dman.....how this becomes a trade rumor because a reporter made it up is beyond me.

Shero looks absolutely horrible for losing Strait in order to keep Despres up, who is now a healthy scratch....especially since he could have sent Despres down. The part that irks me is that Bortuzzo has probably been their best dman over the last 2 years and doesn't get a sniff to start the season. Despres stinks it up this year, has a horrible camp, and they keep him up and play him!! All the while losing Strait because of it!

He better pull off a decent trade soon and HCDB better figure something out or else this mistake riddled season could get uglier by the day.

Do you really want to trade Despres for a 35 year old who will be a UFA at the end of the season? Unless he is willing to take a much lower salary than his current 7.0 mil deal you have no chance to resign him.

With the way he's been playing on the Island..yes. Especially since we lost him in order to keep a player that could have been sent down waiver free, that is now a healthy scratch. Yeah, I'd say people have a reason to complain.

Wrong! Remember Zach Parise signed here for a huge discount to play with Sid and for a cup!

On two topics going on:

Strait - I normally am more patient with roster mistakes in the NHL because it seems more goes into it than other sports that gm's have to balance. But as of now I'm pretty sure the Strait complaints are valid. It's only been 4 games so let's not jump off a bridge but we dumped him to keep a guy who we were aren't playing and also was the only one we can send down to WBS risk free. It doesn't help Strait plays a position of pretty dire need.

Despres - if the pens have soured on him, and he isn't getting playing time because he has been awful I'm not so sure this is the best time to trade him, especially since he already had a bad year in WBS. I hope a GM gives us a top 6 forward for once top prospect who is floundering.

If there's one winger I think the Penguins should be seeking in a trade it would be Glencross. He's been rumored as a target before and the player I'd most want on the Penguins. I'm sure TONS of rumors will circulate: Ryan, Setoguchi, Iginla and plenty more I'm sure. I'd pull off a Glencross/Despres trade in a heartbeat. I'm sure most people here would view that has an overpayment for Glencross, but I don't.

Glencross is EXACTLY what Malkin needs on his side. Glencross would be Malkin's Dupuis, but IMO higher offensive potential. He's big, physical, got a solid two-way game and just an overall solid player. I really don't know what Calgary's position is right now on their players. Glencross is currently the top point-getter for Calgary with a low cap-hit. If he were available, I'd pull the trigger.

I think you're really overstating that, to be honest. Clutterbuck is a very average third line player or a very good fourth liner.

In all seriousness he has dropped off. When he first came out I thought he would be a fantastic 3rd line grinder. I wouldn't trade Depres for him but he does fit the bottom six mold significantly better than Kennedy. And that's not a knock on Kennedy.

Unless Despres is projected to be Letang part deux by the Pens brass, then I would deal him for Iginla and sign him for 3 years $12Mill tomorrow...If the Pens got Iginla they would win the cup one of those 3 years....just this posters personal opinion...

Since his huge year with the Sharks, his production keeps dropping. If you are going to trade a guy at his all time low, in terms of value, why would you give up your most NHL ready prospect?
