I'm missing Jordan Staal quite a bit. I know we couldn't afford to keep him, but at least he brought some offense to that third line. Has anyone other than Neal, Malkin, and Crosby scored this season? I can't even remember.

Kennedy had the first goal of the season, did he not?

During the game I was thinking that I was watching the Pittsburgh Devils. I think I developed a few new grey hairs tonight. But no problem, since they will fall out by tomorrow.
BTW, I feel better than I did yesterday. 3-2-0 looks a lot better than 2-2-1.

BTW pt2, Pens D deserves kudos for this one, especially since they were without Niskanan after the 1st period.

Anderson and fleury could be interchangeable as the first two stars. they were both lights out.

I finally realized why some folks were pushing for a 10-15 game trial period for ET:
It's going to take the Pens that long to look like an NHL team.

No, but IIRC he scored in the 2nd game.

Martin, Letang, Dupuis, and Kennedy.
We could afford to keep Staal. He didn't want to stay.

I just wanna say again... PAUL MARTIN!
Who would have thought that playing on the right side would have such a positive effect?!

The game was in Ottawa so Anderson is #1 star. Not that hard to understand and no reason to get worked up over it.

Probably should have been Fleury for 1st star. Anderson for second and Neal for third. Doesn't really matter though.

Could have had him this year. Make a run with the best team possible. I would have rather played this year out, knowing he was going to leave rather than trade him for a 3rd liner and a couple guys that are years away from contributing

When Martin is at his best he is lethal with the poke check. He has been deadly with it this entire season. When he first got here he used to be great one on one against every forward. He'd just let them come and poke it off their stick. Last year he couldn't do that to anyone. It looked like he needed glasses.

If the team was going to be broken up after the season, sure keep Staal and make one last run. Since that isn't happening letting Staal go for nothing is terrible asset management.

Martin has made some good plays, but it seems like every game, he's picked at least one terrible moment to give the puck away. I don't know...jury's still out IMO.

Please don't compare Staal to Michalek, totally different situations.

That was what I consider a mistake on Sheros behalf, but it doesnt justify someone to say something along the lines of "we gave ZM away for a bag of pucks so we should have let Staal walk for absolutely nothing!" Further, it was pretty evident he took a calculated risk on his ability to get Parise or Suter, or both, which would have had us all creaming our pants, and dumped ZM to make that happen. Unfortunately it didnt work out. Fortunately he and Pens management had the forsight of the labor issues and we're now in a pretty decent position with the lower cap and all the extensions he has to make to 71 and 58. Michalek may have been let go for "nothing" but it was almost the best "nothing" ever.
