Trib reporting that the injury was an ankle but not serious. He'll be day to day after tonight's game moving forward.
That is the first injury of the year and thankfully we will have him back soon. My hope is that with his minutes we elevate Despres' time and role, and see him return to his late season form with more responsibility.

Did you steal the Nisky files in Berlin to get this information?

So will Despres or Bortuzzo dress and not play?

I traded Despres three years into my NHL 13 GM career for a 1st (12th overall) and a 3rd when he hadn't developed much from his original ratings. This is the minimum I would now demand from Shero.

I doubt they would categorize a high-ankle as anything less than serious and 4-6 weeks. Guessing it's more contusion than ligament.

Hopefully it's closer to 2 than 4. 4 weeks in this shortened season is a lot.

Well that stinks. Quite a reversal from the day to day update of last night, but there are two heads on this team that are more critical than his ankle. Injuries are going to happen, so we just have to move on.
Too bad though, because he was having a great start to follow up his great season last year.
I have more confidence in Despres than many here do. I hope they leave him opposite Letang as they had him in practice. I think he will perform Niskanen's role better than he performs the bottom pair, limited ice time role.

Egad! That's like 4-6 in a real season. That means 2-4 weeks of Despres floating around out there. This can only lead to disaster. I guess you have to move Engo up with Letang since Despres is not good enough defensively to play with Letang. They might actually be better off trying Bortuzzo in that spot than Despres. Or Brian Strait...er...wait. I forgot they waived him because Byslma hates true defensive defensemen.

I like Bortuzzo and think he's a good player. Also, Mark Eaton may soon be able to help out. As for Despres, he may be in the lineup for the short term, but he is so traded it isn't even funny.

Defense is going to be putting up the minutes the top 3 for the Rangers did last year in the playoffs.
