Nothing has worked for Bylsma since he fully implemented his own system following the Cup win. I could care less about regular season wins. Just win enough to get in. Mud in the playoffs. Mud right now.

Yeah, that'd suck. Nah, I clamored to keep Strait over both Lovejoy and Bortuzzo based on what I've seen in WB/S, but that was entirely my own opinion. He did play well in his own end tonight, and, frankly, I just can't stand Ben Lovejoy as a hockey player. He's not even a jack of all trades, he's an 8 of all trades. :?

Not a Lovejoy fan either. Bortuzzo can end up being something very unique defensively. He is a very good skater and you can't teach length. Straight will not be missed. Lovejoy would not be either.

I'm certainly confused by all the calls for Bortuzzo... he's played 6 NHL games and looked overmatched

What's funny or sad is that Despres proved he can play more minutes and Bylsma protecting him and th 3d pair in general was stupid.

I saw the play. Looked like the shoulder went out when Talbot and he went down. Not good for NYR.

Not much, Carkner punching Cookie in the back of the head and then the face with his glove on. But, we just did a little dancing with him. He was yapping at Engo but Engo didn't do or say anything.

Thats because Carkner is going to get suspended now and Engo knew if he did something he would as well

Did he do something I missed? I don't see him getting suspended.

Isn't there is a rule that you can't instigate a fight with less than a minute left or its a 1 game suspension?

There was no fight so there was no instigation.

Steiggy or Errey mentioned that the Islanders came in from Winnipeg and had a practice yesterday in the CEC.

Meanwhile, our elite team eeks out a gimmick win and gets practice canceled. I know they play a lot this week, but it's still early in the season. Make 'em work.

He was fine until elbowed by Rinaldo.

But we had 9 NHL defensemen. The problem is not those players. It's coaching.

Been saying that all along. He has done nothing in his NHL time except excel under greater pressure and look less than sturdy in a "don't screw it up and give the top 4 a rest" role.

Yup. If this were a real season we'd still be in camp. All the practices even if they aren't hard skating will help right now. Even if its just watching tape get them to the rink.

He does have incredible reach and can skate well for a guy his size. Positionally he's good, but the guy ends up on his backside way too often for my taste. I know some people weren't fans of Strait, but he reminded me so so much of Rob Scuderi when he was just coming into the league.

No, that's not right. There wasn't any instigation, and engo is a willing partner were they have to fought

If it wasn't for a plan to attend the Devils game Saturday with my best friend since we were 4, I would change my plans to drive to the 'Burgh this weekend off of this one.

There was instigation. Carkner popped Cooke twice. Carkner isn't going to willingly go with Engo, so Engo would had to throw the gloves and start popping Carkner

Piss poor effort. They simply aren't working hard enough or smart enough and it starts with Sid. His play so far this season has been abysmal. He doesn't seem to be skating hard or working hard in the corners. There is no signature explosion to pull away from players in the neutral zone this year. Not to mention his decision making when it comes to passes has been horrid. He looks like Ovechkin out there.

The only players who looked like they showed up tonight were Despres and Jeffrey.

If I recall correctly before both home games the pens had the day before it off. Obviously that didn't work against Toronto or tonight. Hopefully Bylsma learns from that.
