Will the fans ever give up as well?

Postby MarioLives on Wed Jan 30, 2013 11:52 am

As many of you that have been fans over the many years, the fans of the Penguins have come and gone over the years. I remember back in 2002-2003, the Pens were averaging around 12-14k a game to watch a Pens team that was not that good. Although they were not that good, they battled every night and gave maximum effort. As we have seen over the years the Penguins continued to battle, got better, won cups and the fans came back. Now we have seen another decline beginning especially in effort, yet the fans are setting records for attendance. Why is this? How can a team with one of the percieved greatest leader in Crosby, have a team give effort in and out like this? And will the fans ever have enough?

Thanks,

That 12-14k would fill the Winnipeg arena and I believe the new Isles one as well.

The fans will not give up as long as there is a perceived notion that ownership and management are trying to win and are still spending the $$. Once the cashflow is cut off, then you will see a dwindling fanbase. I hardly think we are nearing that point right now, not with a new arena so soon.

We have on ice issues, not off ice issues.

Being 3-3 after 6 games is the start of a franchise wide decline? Interesting

Not at all. But the last 3 playoff series and the fact that things look no better may.

Its not that they are 3-3, its how they are playing. They can't seem to hold possession, have clean breakouts, offensive zone time or or have any kind of cohesion.

I'm so fed up I just would like to point out that I don't care anymore. I'm not even going to post about it.

Exactly, when Dick Tarnstrom was the teams best player I was still there hoping for the best. I'm not thrilled with what I'm seeing, but i'd much rather have this than that.

12-14k was a generous attendance figure for those days.
