Is the potential Zubrus - Hrdina trade dead?

Just curious, but why? Aren't you allowed in the crease as long as you don't interfere with the goalie?

It looked like Cooke clearly interfered. Probably just called incidental contact. Plus, it's Matt Cooke.

MSG said Cooke got pushed into Brodeur.

Boychuck's got some skill. I definitely would not have exposed him to waivers, as he's obviously still quite young. Kid looks like he just hit puberty.

That said, I would have put him with Sid, whose line could use a little refresher (except for the first shift of the game, they looked stale as old underpants.)

That chance Neal had on a slapper... Boychuck put himself in position for the shot. But he's not the shooter on that line. If he had crashed the net instead, the screen would have given Neal a better shot... Boychuck will add speed and skill ot that line. BUt he's pretty weak along the boards.

My wife wants to go to the store and leave our 2 year old grand daughter with me. The only problem is that I don't want her to learn new words if the Devils score

So I guess the Zach Boychuk experiment is over... And it looks like Fleury has added fuel to the fire on the goalie controversy!!!

So my issue with the PP...

The four forwards is not working at all. The play should go through Crosby and Malkin running the PP from the right side half boards and Neal surfing around the Net. Letang and Despres to fire one-timers or cycling it back when Crosby and Malkin trade off.

2nd unit Kunitz, Sutter and Kennedy with Martin and Orpik until Nisky is back.

There is a noticeable problem when the PP does end, lines get messed up. Double shifting 87 and 71 is fine but not like what we saw. After the PP you can get the third pair defense out or play 58-47 or replace 44 with 2 when he's back since 7 can handle some extra time. And you have 87, 24 and 9 out there then go back to Malkins line then Vitale then back to normal with Crosby again or Sutter.

I'd have waived the goal off since Cooke wasn't trying to get out of the crease when the shot came in. Not a penalty just no goal.

But Uncle Daddy is awesome with that stick so its moot :(

This setup makes sense. You are just never going to maximize Malkin by putting him on the point. I believe Despres is completely ready to be given a shot on the first PP. He's not afraid to fire the puck and moves around really well. I just don't think Bylsma trust him enough to put him there.

The PP makes me mad cause Kunitz has never been good at being "ryan malone". Depres and Orpik have the best wrist shots of the defense. Put one of them on the point with letang with neal and malkin in their office and crosby roving. This would make more sense imo.

Interesting PP stat of the day. Our top PP unit has scored 1 goal per 9 minutes of powerplay time. Our second unit has scored 1 goal per 6 minutes of ice time.

I don't think Cooke's ability or inability to get out of the crease would've mattered, because I don't think Brodeur would've had enough time to get his position back anyway.

However, doesn't matter, he still got his stick on it.

Kunitz was a good Malone last year - despite all the interference calls

2nd unit would look better too with Sutter directing traffic on the half boards, Kennedy firing from anywhere, Kunitz in front and Orpik and Martin keeping it simple from the point throwing writers on net.

I don't know how anyone can put our powerplay together that doesn't have Malkin off the right half board and Neal on the left half board. Those are their money locations. It might be a little too physical for Sid long term, but why doesn't he play in front of the net? He has the tip skills in spades, plus if the rebound gets in tight and he has no shot, he has the vision to dish to anyone else who is crashing the net for a rebound.

Also, on the replay, ref was about to blow the whistle. Not sure if that's any indication though...
