Reedeeming qualities about Tangradi...

1) While he is this year's whipping boy, at least he's in the press box, and not on the ice.

Didn't give anything up to get him. Whitney for Kunitz is good as far as i'm concerned.

He is a 23 year old power forward that some team will give a legit shot to make top 6. i.e. Luca Caputi to Toronto a few years back...

His hockey sense really doesn't seem to be too bad - he knows where he needs to be, it's just a matter of whether he can get there or not.

He can't be a whipping boy if he doesn't play at all. I think it's pretty clear that people are trying to push Letang into whipping boy status.

So the Pens can get another Poni for him? Maybe they can pry Mike Brown from the laughs.

People thought it was a decent move when it was pulled off... I have no problem with giving up a few spare parts to acquire an NHL level player. He might not have worked here, but Poni is still in the league... What are Luca Caputi and Martin Skoula doing now???

He is in the Duck's system... I wouldn't mind a Tangradi + (Insert Part Here) for Kulemin type deal... Although Burke isn't running the show anymore, so I don't know if they are still trying to turn trash into treasure. :(

I think this guy has the perfect build to be a dominant power forward in this league. To bad he doesn't have the hands, hockey sence and speed to go with that perfect build.

I think sometimes people get enamored with a players build, rather than the skill package. The Kevin Stevens, John LeClairs, Milan Luci, these guys are few and far between. Just cause a player has their build doesn't mean they can do what they did or are currently doing.

I'm bummed. I wish he weren't so deferential when playing with the big boys, but he seems to think he's only on a line to serve the bigger names. What's sadder is I can't think of a coach/system that is better suited for a power forward than Disco's.

What's funny is that earlier this week I had a WBS fan tell me that Tangradi's game is completely different between the AHL and NHL. Not sure if there's much stock in that or not :?

The kids gotten 45 games total in the NHL broken up across 4 years. It's no wonder he hasn't figured out his game at the NHL level.

Most 2nd-3rd tier prospects with his size don't even make the NHL until they're 24. He's got 2 years at least before he can rightfully be called a bust.

He was fine in his 20 games last season as a 4th liner. He averaged as many hits per game as Cooke and Adams. He'll continue to develop as a bottom 6 six forward somewhere in this league. And maybe his hands and hockey sense (which he does have, they just haven't caught up with him yet) will come together and he'll find a role with a team as a 2nd/3rd line tweener.

I know this is anathema to the Tangradi-hater crowd, but such is as it is when you don't see the game myopically.

He's more confident in his ability at the AHL level. In the NHL, he's so locked up and tight and scared to mess up...it's not looking so good for him...he didn't have a lot of gusto in juniors, but I thought maybe he was just a big guy that needed time to grow and figure it out...but it's a chronic suckage...

I guess we'll just let him rot. I'd say try to turn him into a Holmstrom type, and see if he starts to get it during the season, but they don't trust him to play on the fourth line all that much it seems and used the waiver wire to replace his spot in the lineup. It's a shame, but there's not much you can do about it I suppose...

In my deep keeper fantasy league, I put him on waivers for the sole purpose of having someone above me claim him so they'd drop below me (that's the type of value I thought he had). And he was claimed, but by someone already below me...that's my lasting memory of Tangradi's time with the Penguins so far...
