I know it is the Capitals, but with the Pens having just beaten the Caps on the road, plus their struggles, and the Devils coming up on Saturday, could the Pens slip up tonight? I hope not, but I have an uneasy feeling about this one.

We'll be fine. We only have one win at home and will look to build on the solid effort last time against NJ. I think they get it now, and they have their legs as well.

In today's NHL, pretty much any game against a sub-.500 team would be called a trap game. Meh

They just need to stay out of the box and play disciplined, and they'll be fine. Martin and Orpik have not taken a penalty this season, but the forwards, especially Malkin and Neal, have been taking way too many.

We need Sniper-Kunitz tonight, and not Crazy-Crazy-Kunitz from the Isles game.

Both sides have professionals. Trap game is a trap phrase.

Tarp Game. Once this game is over, MarioLives can come on here and say something is wrong with Crosby and MAF sucks compared to Vokoun again. I can't wait. So excited.

Rivalry games can be trap games? I always think that a rivalry game can go either way today...

I think trap games are one of the more over-hyped and over-utilized terms in professional sports. If the Pens lose to the Capitals tonight, it doesn't automatically mean that "omg we overlooked them!!!!?!!?!!"!! It simply means the Capitals outplayed us tonight, and we lost the game.

NO THE OTHER TEAM NEVER PLAYS WELL. THEY ARE BUMS THAT SHOULD BE THRILLED TO EVEN BE ON THE ICE WITH THE PENGUINS. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO ALWAYS LOSE AND NEVER EVER EVER WIN. THE ONLY WAY THE PENS LOSE IS IF THEY DECIDE NOT TO SHOW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think of trap games more in football terms and when you have a huge opponent coming in after a terrible opponent.
So, if the Steelers are playing the Raiders who are 0-12 and lose to them because they were looking to a showdown with Baltimore the next week.

Kovy, you really can be a jerk. If you dont like what I post, just ignore me. I never bash Fleury, and I may have wondered what was going on with Crosby, but so have 100's of other posters. Quit obsessing over me, and move on. I am sure every one of your posts have been world class......

Hmmmm kind of like the Pens playing the worst team in hockey two days before playing one of the best.....you sir, are brilliant. Way to prove the point.

I think the pens got trapped in period one and three. They did well in period 2 though.

Don't mistake TRAP GAME for a good gosh-darn 5-man team defense. I don't think they are trapping, the defenseman are still a few feet back at the blue line than what would be considered a standard trap, but the forwards have been backchecking very well. Just good team defense, i love it.
