And aren't the Devils moving to Brooklyn? And if they do maybe they should call them the Dodgers, or uh Bums. You younger folks may not understand this. :pop:

The Islanders are moving to Brooklyn not the Devils.

Too logical, except for the kind of weird part that Nashville is in the Central Time Zone instead of EST. Still, you have to put them there.

I don't know why they don't just switch to a north-south format so the travel concerns disappear. All this catering to rivalries is stupid because rivalries are constantly in flux (when was the last time that the heated Pens-Blues rivalry of the 70s was mentioned?).

A north-south alignment would be the worst possible result in terms of travel. Pittsburgh is probably "south" in that scenario.

Worst possible for the Penguins.... but it stops the whining from the western teams.

I agree.... that is the best possible scenario... and for Columbus, it could save the franchise...

Neither Detroit or Columbus are actually in the southeast portion of North America.

This, plus, Buffalo is very close to Toronto, so a 2nd Toronto team is 3 teams within 100 or so miles.

Good sports town? They lost the Sonics in 2008 because neither city nor state would fund to build a new facility or update KeyArena ... something change since then? The owner of the NBA Kings have applied for relocation, but its contingent on a new arena deal.

They definitely embraced UW sports and MLS, but there is a great deal of uncertainty to contend with.

What does funding have to do with fan support in a town? Why do I even read your posts?

Except there is only one real city when looking at 2 teams in Toronto and 1 in Buffalo.

What? The main argument for less travel is the whole time zone issue, not a North-South thing.

Philly to New York is 94 miles, not sure how far the Isles and Devils are from NYC.

This is logical, but the previously released format had 4 divisions and I believe the recent talk stated it would be a tweak to this format.

According to Google Maps, it's 146 miles (driving) from Long Island to Philly. Newark and NYC are between those two.

We can move teams around all we want but how do you solve the issue of teams in confrences with 7 teams have a better shot at making the playoffs than the teams in divisions of 8 teams? This was a road block for the players when they first talked about it.

I also have to think a second Toronto team and Quebec team are most likely to get in. I read some where if you allow 2 canadian teams in you can charge them the same ammount to get in the league, than if you allow one canadian and on U.S. team. Don't ask me why but that was their logic. Also the Seattle team needs a new arena and they would prefer keep that city open until the Phoenix issue is resolved as you wouldn't have to do any major over hull of the current propsed realignment.

Also look at the current proposed realignement isn't it odd how the east got the 7 team confrences and there are 2 teams rumored up for grabs and they would be obious choices to be in the east. It seems to would make sence to make the east the 2 8 team confrences since all thoes cities are bunched together.

Ok, remove the Cryers and there are still 3 teams within 40 miles of each other so it shouldn't be a problem having 2 Toronto teams with Buffalo 100 miles away given how strong a following Toronto has for Hockey.
