I think we should consider the big picture here.

Shero is probably looking for some vet options during the playoffs, in case there are injuries on the blueline. Not saying that Eaton will fill that role, but nothing wrong with giving him a look now....

You can't trade Eaton to Minny unless you sign him first :)

Have to sign Eaton so Bylsma isn't forced to play more of those vile, disgusting rookies. Better to play someone who is aging and unwanted by the league so you can get his veteranosity in the lineup.
