Until the Pens get some grit to deal with the likes of the Flyers/Devils, they'll keep pushing them around. The Pens can't have 1 forward (Glass), and 1 D-man (Orpik) be the teams physical presence for the whole game, when the Flyers/Devils seem to have a physical presence on every line. After a while the punishment has to wear on the Pens. Yea the Flyers scored garbage goals, but the Pens had the game in hand till the Flyers turned up the hitting.

Kunitz, Neal, Cooke, Glass, Vitale, Orpik, Bortuzzo, Engelland. Thats decent size/grit.

We could use 1 more forward who is not afraid to get his nose dirty on Geno's LW, and I think we will have him by the deadline.

Read is hardly a villain , though. Brayden schenn breaking his girl face would have been better news.

The Flyers won't even make the playoffs as they can't beat anyone consistently but the Pens.

My day-after thought is that there's a whole lotta :scared: going on in here for a one-goal loss in a game where our otherwise-solid backup goalie had an uncharacteristically bad game.

No idea. May be from a laughing fit after seeing the Flyers' last goal.

Vokoun, Welcome to the War -- regular season style. Just wait until the playoffs begin.

You don't need brass knuckles under the glove, but you better be ready to do your part to win the battle.

I remember during an intermission (first I think) Lavs saying Read wasn't expected back but Indon't remember seeing when he got hurt.

Malkin caught him from the side in the neutral zone from the side. Knocked him flying like a bit of a pinwheel. The impact was right under the arm on the side - so the ribs are involved there. He finished the shift, but I didn't see him after.

Apparently it was from a Kunitz hit. (from a report posted on a Flyers' board)

You always have that feeling EVERY single game for the past year or two that if we don't score at least 4 goals, we don't really stand a chance of winning. Long gone are the Penguins being able to play close 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, and 4-3 style hockey games. To me, that comes down to coaching as HCDB system resembles the Capitals style of play while under coach Ketchup/BBQ/Wing sauce Face. Anaheim is scoring 5 - 7 goals a game regularly under Boudreau and Therrien has the Habs off to a 11-4-1 start.

I've said this a few times as well. We look like the 2007-2011 Capitals that we all laughed at and made fun of for winning the regular season and getting laughed out of the playoffs.

But no, we need to acquire a scoring winger for Crosby...because scoring 5 goals a game STILL isn't enough to win for this team on occasion.

The only games that have a low Goals Against is the games that the goaltenders stand on their head or the other team forgets to show up (that 5-1 win over NJ comes to mind)

Sorry but the facts speak otherwise...over 50% of their wins in this short season have already come in tight low scoring games:

beat Philly 3-1 (enG)
beat OTT 2-1 (OTshootout)
beat NYR 3-0
beat NYI 4-2 (enG)
beat Jets 3-1 (enG)
beat BUF 4-3
