When told of Milbury's latest comment, Crosby could only shake his head.

"I wasn't aware of it," Crosby said, with more than a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "He watches so much hockey, he must know. I'll try to do a better job of playing defensively."

"It's a little irritating," Penguins defenseman Matt Niskanen said. "I try not to get too flustered by it. He always has a bonehead remark to make."

I just do not understand the constant criticism of Crosby. I do not hear other players getting ripped like the by other hockey "experts". I just don't get it. OV is off limits.....

For what it's worth, SI recently had an article asking whether or not Ovie is washed up. Seems to me now Giroux is the media darling....oh wait that's just Pierre.

Crosby is the best. He's the most visible and relevant. People can't help but talk about him.

Milbury is a nimrod. Has he not noticed that Sid also plays on the PK team now. And one of his main purposes of being there is to win faceoffs, which BTW, he does a pretty good job.

Milbury may be a nimrod, but what he said isn't far from the truth.

Crosby getting criticism is part and parcel of today's non-stop barrage of sports media. You could certainly apply Milbury's comments to Gretzky, Lemieux, hell just about every single solitary "offensive" great of the last 50 years. But you didn't have 24/7 insta-coverage to talk about it back then.

I think, by and large, today's NHL "offensive" stars carry a much heavier load all-around because they actually DO contribute defensively as part of day-to-day play. That's the way the NHL is now, and it's also why we don't see 200 point scorers.

I thought Crosby's answer was fine. I did think Nisky should just shut the hell up and focus on playing better.

this is basically the pittsburgh media fishing for a story to grab attention and readers. to get offended by what milbury said is a joke. he said nothing wrong.

now, i think he is a horrible commentator but to get offended or to think what he said should be a story is ridiculous.

I can't believe there isnt more talk of what he said in the 2nd intermission. Well it wasnt so much what he said, but how he so carefully phrased it. They were going over crosby's backcheck on Talbot's SO breakaway. The two Flyer goons were talking it up like it was a great play then pulled the ol' "but wait a minute." They closed in on how Crosby may have clipped Max's hands and it should have been a PS. Milbury says, "Credit to him though. It looked like a great play and took us 3 looks to see he actually cheated there." When has an analyst ever phrased a missed call as the offending player as "Cheating?" I think he knew exactly what he was doing there.

Oh and Pierre was on another planet last night. I got home halfway thru the 1st and he was on my nerves instantly. He knows that he doesnt have to speak every time Doc takes a breath right?? Then on the 3rd Flyers goal Wayne Simmonds was in front of the net, whiffs on the rebound as it bounces to Voricek for the goal. He did nothhing of value - Pierre: "What a courageous and unselfish play by Wayne Simmonds there"

Then Giroux elbows Engelland in the face in the corner and he hails his leadership, all while burying CFA on a completely trash elbowing call. He annoys me, but last night was something special from him. He just does not STFU

I went to a Flyers-Someone game 5 years ago and ran into an acquaintance who was there with a friend. After being exposed as a Pens fan, I immediately got treated to bleating by someone I had just met, "Oh, I can't stand 'Cindy.' He's such a [pejorative]..." etc. I gave the same answer I always give: an ostensibly bemused and subtly sarcastic "Huh." I enjoy the deflated look I get in return and revel in the consistency. Happens all the time, and almost always about Sid.

When I meet someone new whom I know is a fan of another team, I don't immediately start trashing their favorite team's players to their faces. Why not? Because I wasn't raised in the wild by wolves.
