Karlsson does not like being hit

Postby Gaucho on Sat Feb 23, 2013 6:11 am

I'm sorry, but it's hard to feel bad for him when he says stupid thing like this:

"I don't think it would have happened it if was another type of player. [...] I've been around long enough to know who's going to hit you and who's not. [...] I don't think he meant to cut me, but he meant to hit me hard and try and knock me out. [...]

Sorry bro, but you're a defenseman....welll his role is defenseman even though he doesn't do much of that. He's more of a "4th" forward that hangs back/rover kind of player.

Obviously not a big guy and certainly not wanting to take big hits to make plays. Such a shame he won the Norris Trophy which is a trophy I use to respect. Now it's all about numbers.

It's always a game plan to hurt Karlsson and hit him hard. He's a small defenseman that likes to control the puck and take off, have to hit him and slow him.

He just sounds feminine right now, sorry. :thumb:

I think that his comments are getting way too much play.

He's a young star that just had his season cut short (pun intended). He's frustrated, and Cooke makes an easy target...just like Subban was an easy target when Staal got cut. He's forming his opinions on pure emotion right now, and I don't think he should be flambasted for doing so.

I'd say he's a little immature and completely frustrated / disappointed before I'd call him a kitty.

This. Plus, all the messages from his teammates, GM, and owner are all: "That ****, Cooke. Can't believe he did this to you." At 22, he's going to follow the leader.

Its not like people don't try to hit him now. One of the things that makes him so great is the angles he takes going into corners. He's in and out and able to easily check who is bearing down on him. Of course thats all possible because he's one of the best skaters in the game. If thats diminished, then thats not good for his evasiveness. :pop:

I don't really blame him. There was no reason for Cookes leg to come up like that. I don't think he intended to hurt him but it was reckless. Wouldn't mind if the Pens don't re-sign Cooke....

I hope they re-sign him, but hopefully only for a year, he's gonna go downhill fast real soon. I feel his game is cleaned up to the point that I have no problem with him being on the Pens though.

When you have Chris Neal on your team you lose all rights to complain about the Matt Cookes of the world.

I'd take Neal and his style of play over Cooke....Cooke has obviously cleaned up his game but Neal defends his teammates and usually follows the code...

If you don't want to get hit, you should probably either plan to not be the best defenseman in the game right now, or just stop playing all together. Solves his problem regarding playing with meanies like Matt Cooke that want to hit him.

I don't think most players "like" to get hit. However, the incessant whining out of Ottawa on a freak and unfortunate play is tiring. I can understand their frustration, but after the crap we've been through over the past 3 seasons, I have little sympathy.

That quote makes no sense at all. He's fortunate to be one of the more gifted hockey players in the world. If he wasn't he'd be swinging a mop for a living.

I disagree. He can score goals and provide grit on the 3rd line. He's a asset to this team.

Look at the current situation. Geno is hurt on a play where the opponent violently propels him into the boards as he is in a vulnerable position (by the Gudbrandson's own admission). No penalty, no suspension....no press conference or ongoing whining from our coach, the players or our ownership. Geno could just as easily be out as long as Karlsson for all we know - but there is no moaning from our team.

Ottawa should just grow a pair, but I'll tell you after playing them in the playoffs it has not changed at all up there. They should all wear turtlenecks under their Jerseys. Bunch of whiney prima-donnas.
