They confirmed that he had a concussion. They also said that Malkin is feeling fine and that his only symptom was short-term memory loss, while Rossi was reporting that he had severe headaches.

Yeah while Rossi's accuracy could be questioned, he broke the story about Geno having Concussion symptoms and I feel a certain way about how the Pens/Blysma handled it earlier in the day and made it sound like Geno could play very soon and was completely fine and then after the game stating he had a concussion and missing start of road trip. This fan base is too rabid for that crap just come out and say it and don't try to discredit the report/writer.

It seems like it was a pointed effort to discredit Rossi. Rossi has a little video on the Trib website where he and Yohe are discussing the game, and Malkin injury. Rossi said something like "we can argue semantics, but he has a concussion". It isn't the first time the Pens have been unhappy with Rossi. Last year there was something going on when he all of the sudden was not the beat writer. When the season started back up this year, I heard him on the Pens 24/7 radio show when Steve Mears was still on, and he said he was the beat writer again, and made a reference to the fact that Sid isn't mad at him as far as he could tell.

The Pens aren't exactly forthcoming with their injury reports. It makes me wonder who Rossi's sources close Malkin really are. I can't imagine any player offering information like that to Rossi. Anyone on the medical staff would be violating privacy laws.

Not necessarily a bad thing. 85% of all people with concussions experience a headache and is the number one associated symptoms. Very normal.

Concussion headaches are some of the worst headaches you can ever feel.

So to say you have severe headaches can be a very normal thing.

Pain is so subjective its nearly impossible to grade something by saying severe headaches. Pain should be rated on a VAS or visual analog scale 1-10. Symptoms may be severe in one person's opinion while being mild in an other person's opinion.

This isnt necessarily directed at you. But everyone keeps going in circles with this as if Malkin couldnt have possibly had headaches that subsided but still has short term memory loss. Just not sure given the facts, given when Rossi's statement was made, given that Rossi is very close to Malkin, given that Malkin ends up with a concussion - that the Pens are getting the benefit of the doubt in this.

Come on, I think its pretty clear. Again, I dont like defending Rossi but I am 99.99% certain the Pens are full of it in this instance.

If we're talking about after the initial "hurt" goes away, Pens could be spot on that there weren't any headaches or disorientation that went with what is now being ruled a concussion.

Both sides, in a way, aren't lying depending on what angle you take it from.

I believe 100% that Malkin had a headache and was disoriented that same night. If he woke up Saturday/Sunday and didn't have then what the Pens said is right also.

With all that being said, who cares? Malkin will be back when he is back and it doesn't matter who says what when where or why.

Well it was a response in a thread about Rossi. Really and I don't remember the timing of when each said exactly what, but if the intent for the pens was to be honest and not discredit Rossi wouldn't they say exactly what you said? " He did and he was headache free when reevaluated today, but we need to do more tests"

I don't like Rossi as much as the next guy but it seemed to me the point was made to discredit him, a year after they got him kicked off the best. Just seems bush league to me.
