Why do we keep talking about Jack Johnson? He's an awful fit and his contract sucks. It only exacerbates the problems on the blueline.

Harrington might be the closest to playing in the nhl, then Dumoulin.

Agreed. A trade is pretty much a forgone conclusion but I doubt its Johnson

Harrington is still playing junior hockey. Dumoulin is probably closest by some margin, then Morrow.

Organiazation seems to be verry high on Dumoulin and Morrow. It would take really good hockey trade for those two to get dealt in any way.

Giving up goals in the last minute of periods seems to be a new trend for the Pens. It's happened in the last 4-5 games.
We just don't seem to have that shutdown/lockdown mode this year. I hope this is addressed soon by both Bylsma and Shero.

I got to go with shmehguin on this one, with all the positioning moves like signing Eaton, moving Boychuk, signing Kostopolus sending Bennett down. Seems like something is about to happen. Though i don't think its going to involve J. Johnson like another poster said.

These are actually afternoon afterthoughts
- as someone pointed out earlier, the ice was bad (again). Pee-air mentioned on NBC that Neal was complaining about it on the bench. Please fix or prepare for injuries
- Read the Orpik excuses - "He's hurt". Could be, but if so, its somewhere between his head & hands. He gave the puck away without pressure on a 3-4 occasions
- While Bennett is a top 6 winger skill wise, i still think Geno's line needs more bang/crash puck retrieval. There is only 1 Kunitz though, too bad.
- Totally Agree, need to address late period lapses. Those goals kill Kill KILL

I don't know why Orpik would admit to being hurt, makes him more of a target

I'd rather not have Jack Johnson unless he can be had for Tom Kostopolus for him. Certainly not an NHL player, prospect or draft pick. I'd trade DB for him as long as Columbus can sign and trade Lindy Ruff and throw him in.

It does seem like alot happening.. Today would be a good time to make a trade, they don't play till Thursday. I'm not in favor of trading Despres for JJ.

I don't see anything happening that would make me more apt to believe a trade is coming.

Meh, he'll still get paid and maybe he'll even get to play for some desperate team.

Who knows, he would be a deal sweetner or maybe a Derick Dorsett
That is exactly what I am asking, how is he a deal sweetener? There must be something I am missing.
He'd play top 6 on nashville, columbus, calgary off the top of my head.
On current form would he? Why would any of them trade significant assets for someone they could sign in the offseason?

Because of the talent and promise of this young guys on D, and also because of the salary cap problems we might have I think its stupid that we should trade them. I also think THAT we shouldnt trade away too much for rental player. Sign UFA agent in offseason for a 3-4 years, without trading away great talent. IF,IF we trade this season for someone good it should be COMBO OF Kennedy,Jeffrey,Eaton,Orpik,Glass,Engelland,Eaton,Niskanen,AHL forwards and combo of draft picks..thats it!
I think that combo of Kennedy,Niskanen and draft pick can get us very good player already..
Or combo of Jeffrey,Kennedy and Orpik!?

A thread about the TB game turns into yet another trade discussion. What IS it with hockey fans?
And Jack Johnson? At no point does Jack Johnson address ANY of the Pen's gaping holes. ANY.
Also, this team does not need a scoring winger. Scoring goals is NOT the problem around here.

Exactly. We need sandpaper and defensive acuity.

I'm hoping that Eaton can remain stable and steady and quell the calls for Bortuzzo pulling regular duty. No team is winning the Cup in 2013 with him in lineup.
Ray has some work to do to get a D in, who will eventually relegate 4, 5 and 41 to the pressbox.

Or Eaton will play like the shot-blocking, PK'ing, mobile (enough) defensemen he has in the past, both improving our bottom-pairing and rendering the need for another defensemen moot.
