does the old policy of team that lost a player to waivers get first claim priority if the claiming team places said player back on waivers? I recall this was how we lost/reclaimed Robert Lang back in 97 or 98.

Nope. Its purely reverse order of standings.

I would have expected this move from Lou if the Pens tried signing Morozov from the KHL since he would have to pass through waivers, but for Kostopoulos?

Debs are really week on the RW and Butler sucked, they essentially traded TK for Butler, win for them.

Kostopolous would have been good depth but I'd rather have Marc Eaton available and Jeffrey to come in anywhere in the lineup.

I've been trying to figure that out since Boychuk got claimed. I don't have the patience to keep looking though.

When the lockout ended, this was one of things mentioned about what was going to be different this year. I'm surprised not everyone memorized it.

Your sadness brings me great joy. It has actually revitalized me at 9:14 in the morning. Not unlike drinking a red bull while playing games on my iphone while emptying my bowels.

thanks, mikey287. Never thought of it as two separate processes, the claim, vs the conditions for the re-claiming team then not having to put on waivers to send down. I had assumed the right just came with the re-claim. I didn't even think of the Chris Bourque situation, though now jogged I do recall the talk then. And the only player lost to a claim, to be reclaimed by Pens same season, that I recalled was Robert Lang, which was some 15 years ago.

May have recounted this on this board before but my Kosto memory comes from the 03-04 season, when nobody gave a crap about the Pens. The original TK was doing an appearance at Jack's in the South Side on a Friday night, at about happy hour time (5-7ish).

My friends and I were all South Siders at the time and wandered down to see the original TK but mostly to take part in the Labatt special, which was like $1 bottles or something obscenely cheap.

We get there, and happy hour is in full swing. Kostopoulos was sitting on a stool in the corner of the room (the corner to the right of the entrance near the other exit) with one Pens intern with him and a box of Ice Times next to him being completely ignored. Like just sitting there watching the TVs above the bar. After a couple Labatts, I went over to get a signed Ice Time (which I still have and am willing to sell for top dollar to any takers)
but some drunk guy was haranguing him at the exact moment I went over and telling TK how the Pens suck, he's a nobody, the Pens should just move already, the team is awful, he should be ashamed and all this crap. The guy was yelling because the juke box was on full blast. The intern was a girl and stood there in shock. When the guy stumbled away I muttered a "don't mind that guy, he's a ----" and got the autograph but TK was seething and they left soon after.

I would say the fact that tk was a prominent enough member of that team to warrant a special appearance makes that fan's anger totally justified.

I think he should have just knocked the guy out. Its Jack's, no one would think anything of it. Why would anyone that was making an appearance go to that place?
