To be fair, in skimming the piece, he doesn't really seem to advocate moving him to wing. More that he needs to pay more attention to this defensive responsibilities, if he's going to be back there, which he is.

Exactly. If you read the article it is basically saying that Letang is so bad defensively that maybe wing would be a better option. I read this as a indirect way to bash his defensive skills......

Articles like this are why "journalism" is now populated by under-educated, self-promoting idiots. If you don't get paid, it's not your job. If you get paid for garbage like that, then your boss should be fired.
