Kunitz, Crosby, Dupruis, is the best 3rd line in the nhl.

I am not wild about the idea of giving up what Calgary reportedly wants for a third-line rental, if indeed that is where Iginla would play.

More than a few people mentioned that possibiliy, plus IMO, barring injury, I don't touch the first two lines.

I don't see how Iginla would get dibs to replace anyone on the top two lines at the moment. Even Bennett has earned his spot. It's just a bad overall message to be in the midst of a winning streak and punish one guy for a guy who's under performing everyone on the Pens top two lines.

Which makes all the sense in the world to go after a legit third line guy and possibly pay half the price.

Even if they do get him a a decent price, I still don't see how you break up that top line. I don't see how anyone could reasonably expect a line of Kunitz, Crosby, and Iginla to outperform what they're doing with Dupuis there. If something's working out as well as that is, don't mess with it.

It would make more sense to play him in Bennett's spot, move Bennett down with Sutter and Cooke, then play TK on the 4th (assuming he isn't part of the deal). That's not to say Bennett's done anything to warrant a demotion either; in fact, I've been really impressed with him to this point. I just think that of the two routes, this make more sense.

And the whole Sid/Iggy thing is overblown IMO. They played together for most of one tournament. Kunitz and Dupuis spent more time on the ice with him during the lockout at Southpointe.

And it didn't really go well for them, with one big exception of course.

Well, we'll probably lose a game or two before we acquire him, so, you know, no biggie :P

What would it take for the Flyers to get him back via trade?

Probably a second round pick or a mid-level prospect, or a combination of both. I don't think Jagr would fetch an NHL roster player at this point, considering his age and UFA status. But he's certainly valuable and any team that wants to trade for him is going to have to overpay to get him from the Stars -- who, as I mentioned above, are not actively shopping him. So why a high pick may sound like too high a price to pay, the Stars are certainly not going to just give him away for free.

You have to realize, Jagr has been a marketing boon for Dallas. His jersey is all over the AAC and there's a good chance the big crowds have been due in part to the excitement over signing him. He's certainly a very popular player in Dallas already.

One of our mid-level prospects and a pick for Jagr to the Pens, or you want the Flyers to give up assets to get Jagr?

Really? I am quite amazed that so many people who know hockey honestly thinks that Iginla would play on the third line. I mean, that is not going to happen in this or any other universe. If the pens get Iginla, he is going to play with Crosby and Kunitz. Dupuis will be on the third line, anything else is just fairy tales.

Yes the first line is playing exceptionally well, but the rule is not to never tinker with a line that plays well, the rule is to never tinker with a line that plays well unless you have a good enough reason. Adding Iginla is a good enough reason. Dupuis plays well on all lines and is doing really well with Crosby because of how well they know each other, he is doing well but by no means is he doing so exceptionally well that he is suddenly irreplaceable on that line. And it does not mean that another player would not do even better. It strengthens the entire team to put Iginla with Crosby on the first line. If after two weeks you see that it does not work at all, then by all means you switch Dupuis back into the first line, and then you try Iginla with Malkin.

Look at Neal without Malkin. Crosby without Dupuis is probably about a 20 goal scorer. Now, you could make this fact into an argument that Dupuis should be on the first line, or one that he shouldn't.

You use your assets where they make an optimal impact. Dupuis is much more productive on the 1st line relative to the 3rd. On the other hand, if Crosby can make Dupuis a 60+ point player imagine what he could do with a guy like Iginla...

Where would jagr fit in, theres a better chance of JI taking a third line roll compared to JJ.
