Thank you. I would love to play for the Penguins. 8-)

Having 5 skilled wingers for 4 spots isn't exactly the worst problem to have. Guys get hurt.

Of course Calgary is asking for a lot now for Iginla. Let's see where they are in a week.

Bennett in my eyes isn't ready for playoff hockey, yeah he is playing well but i think he might be over whelmed during the playoffs. Its not just about playing well. You got to bring mental attitude and be ready for more than just hockey. A guy who plays a bigger game with physical play would do us well.

It's just a bad overall message to be in the midst of a winning streak and punish one guy for a guy who's under performing everyone on the Pens top two lines.

Which makes all the sense in the world to go after a legit third line guy and possibly pay half the price.

Exactly.

Agree, i just hope Shero won't get caught up in "chasing the cup" and make some stupid move.

Hm... I'd rather our GM go for it....? How many more years with prime Sid, Geno, Letang, etc. do we have left? You never know where you'll be in a year -- this year we're in a position to make a serious run. I think Shero will look at last year and not be fooled by regular season success, identify the holes, and fill them.

Plus, with a guy like Iginla, he's basically calling the shots with his NMC. It's not like the Hossa deal where he could've gone anywhere. Iginla's reported list is quite small, and if he ends up wanting to go to Pittsburgh, they'll find a way to make it happen.

I'd put Iggy on Malkin's line and let Bennet play on the 3rd. He'd be able to do good things against the lower levels of competition, and we'd have even less reason to let the fourth line ever see the ice.

I guess we'll find out. Most people didn't think he was ready for the NHL this year, and he's acquitted himself quite well so far.

I just hope that no matter what happens, people realize that it takes 2 to tango and if nothing major is done, it's not because Shero wasn't trying.

Who am I kidding, this is the internet!

I knew you would see i my way. Why would we want to mortage the future for a silly cup. Its not like that is what a sports team are in it for. Look at the Pirates just run your franchise and make a profit that is all it comes down to.

Kennedy, Doumoulin #1 for Iginla....

We're going for the cup people...Pens could easily absorb losing Doumoulin with the depth we have in the system.

Even if Dumoulin has to change to Maatta for the deal to work, I still probably do it for that exact reason.

i don't see the point of bringing in iginla. it seems like the costs outweigh the benefits.

I hear you. I don't want him going to Boston or any other contender though. Call it a preemptive strike... Iginla is not just about goal scoring. It's about all the other attributes to his game...

I want him on the team not to prevent someone else from getting him. I want him on the team because he'll be a better addition than a Clark MacArthur type player would be.

This, not at his age. Your putting together a Hossa like package, but Iginla isn't close to where Hossa was in 2008.

Remember that the Pens gave up a 3rd round pick for Guerin. I'd rather give up something like that for a guy like Morrow.

The Pens gave up a 3rd for Guerin because at 2:55 a deal fell through with another club and the Isles were desperate to get something out of him. IIRC, it was a 5th that became a 3rd because we won the Cup. Another atypical deal, ala Gaustad.

What no one is mentioning is...what happens if Iginla goes, "damn, these guys can play...put me on at a 1 year deal...let me play a year, try to win one (if we don't win this year) and then I'll go back to Calgary after that" ...I mean, ya never know. Hossa turned down a major deal for a one-year shot in Detroit. Exception not the rule. But I mean, ya never know. Iginla hasn't had a shred of hope of winning for almost a decade (or, two lockouts, if that's how you keep time), you never know what a dose of winning adrenaline does to a player that likes to win...

GM's don't make it in the NHL by wasting assets on "preemptive strikes"

We would need a bottom 6 replacement for Kennedy.

Iginla isn't going to play forever. He will sign a 2-3 year deal with Calgary in the offseason and retire a Flame. I wouldnt give up Kennedy a 1st and a prospect for a guy who is a true playoff rental.

I know this makes people go rah-rah-rah, but Dupuis makes that 3rd line much better in place of Kennedy.

These are things you don't know.

If we win, then hey, it's worth it whether he stays or not. If we don't but get close, maybe experiencing something he hasn't tasted in years in Calgary makes him say, hey I've got a couple years left in me, I want to win, and then after two more years he signs a faux-deal to retire a Flame.
