Which is also why what snags Iginla won't be comparable to the Hossa deal, in essence (two upside-roster players, top prospect, 1st rounder).

Don't forget, again, Hossa could've gone anywhere, It was a best deal available scenario. Iginla has a NMC. He calls the shots.

Yep. Iggy will say to Feaster, "Boston or Pittsburgh, (but preferably Pittsburgh, because who doesn't want to play with Sid Crosby!)"

And then it comes down to what either team is willing to offer, coupled with Feaster's (and all of Calgary's) willingness to accept what is offered.

That's a lot for Havlat don't you think? I know he's been decent in the past, but 8 points in 22 games and the guy has a problem staying healthy.

Probably right. I didn't realize how bad he was struggling this year

Yeah, I think anybody we pick up is going to be in the last year of their contract. Too many of our own players to sign in the near future to complicate things more with a guy who makes big money and years left.

How does one confuse Talbot and Letang?

That's like confusing Johnny Boychuk for Zach Boychuk or something.

Havlat is a playoff veteran and was a warrior for the Blackhawks.... I don't see how adding him could be so bad

He is also a cap hit of 5 mil for the next two years. Not sure how you can justify spending that kind of money on a injury prone guy like Havlet.

No, that would be understandable, considering their last names are the same. This is the perfect example of why people can't stand Rossi. He trolls like this to get a reaction, then he corrects himself. And, even if it was an honest mistake, he's earned a reputation that prevents him from getting the benefit of the doubt.

Unless they trade for him, then buy out his contract. I'm not an advocate of trading legit assets for a player another team clearly wants rid of, then using additional cash to get rid of him -- but this might be a way to get a legit player on the cheap. If a team has several buyout worthy veterans (big contracts, declining stats), they could be looking to get rid of them without paying the real money involved in a buyout and, therefore, might be willing to trade them for a smaller return. Just a thought.

I see your point, but he is owed 11 million in salary over the next two years, and if I'm Shero do I really want to buy out that remaining contract? If he had a back diving deal then it might make more sense. It would also depend on what player assets you have to give up in the trade.

Yea, I said something similar to a buddy about what makes Rossi so insufferable.

I laugh hysterically at those horrible Trib radio ads during Pens games because he has to know no one believes it.

If the price quoted for Jagr by the Dallas blogger is accurate -- say a third round pick and a mid-level prospect -- then its a no-brainer to me that you do that over the price for Iginla of Maata/1st.

We really don't need a top six winger (Havlat, Jagr, etc) considering how much we score right now. I think alot of people agree with that. But I still want Iginla. And I want him on the Penguins because he brings attributes that the afformentioned players do not: grittiness, hitting, and leadership (I know Jagr was a good leader last year, but thats one year out of his career). If we don't get Iginla, I want to shore up our third and fourth lines
