I think you'd get more bang for your buck with Jagr.
In this case, buck meaning assets you're giving up.

The funny thing is Jagr is most definitely worth the $4.5 million on a one year deal, especially after his job making Giroux look so good. In hindsight, it's really quite shocking the Flyers didn't just give him the money. I guess they overstated the impact of one of the greatest players to ever lace them up.

I laughed because it's a surprisingly appropriate response. But still, I can't get around the "what the **** is the matter with you?" question...

Jagr? C'mon. As much as I was a Jagr fan way back when...NO. The other night when Pierre Mcguire asked Sid about what the Pens intended to do that night his response was "Play fast." How would Jagr fit into that scenario? He wouldn't.

He kept up pretty well with PHI last year. Not sure how quickly the Stars try to play.

But in any event, its not as though Iginla is Grabner-like either in this respect. He's still one of the hardest players to take the puck from in the NHL, and this system is all about puck possession.

He's not what he used to be, but Jags is still certainly fast enough to keep up on this team. Guerin worked out (until the very end) and everyone was worried about the same thing with him. Not to mention he didn't look out of place on Philly last year and it's not like they're a slow team. Don't get me wrong; there are a million reasons why Jagr isn't coming home, but speed ain't one.

I think I take Jags over Iggy. *

I'd take neither. I'd rather have what we have over Jagr.

Jagr the player would improve this team. It's Jagr the person-in-the-locker-room that worries me. Is he a leader? Is he content with just showing up and playing? Is he the selfish d-bag that he sometimes appears to be? Does his generally relaxed, care-free type attitude clash with Sid's serious side? His name just creates questions in my mind. Whether there is anything to them, I don't know.

and I am disturbed to my very soul with that gif...

I sure as heck hoped he'd have matured since 2001. If the price was a Guerin-like price, I would be ok with it. Much more than that, no thanks.

he may have. The whole "Jagr is coming to Pittsburgh" debacle before he ended up in Philly left me wondering. Maybe it was all just press rumors and miscommunications. Its just a concern I have

Jagr seems to be a good leader and a great mentor for the young guys in Dallas. I'd be surprised if they were looking to get rid of him instead of trying to resign him. And I don't think he'd come that cheap, really. He'd certainly be cheaper than Iginla if they are looking to move him though.

Of course the whole Jagr debacle was media-created. I'm sure Shero sent out a few calls to his agent, maybe even made a (lowball) deal to him, but I don't think we were ever serious contenders. Look at what happened with Parise this summer. We weren't even close to signing him and everyone kept saying that a deal was close, yadda yadda, he will be a Penguin by tomorrow morning. We weren't even in the running at the end. If it's Kennedy+3rd for Jagr or 1st+Maata++for Iginla...I think there's an easy choice.

Jagr would be great at the beginning of the season, but I think it would be too much disruption for a trade deadline grab with only like 3.5 weeks after the deadline.

I think this team doesn't need a guy like Jagr, We need a top 6 dman, and a power forward to play on a line with Geno and Neal in the playoffs, Clowe, Cutterbuck no so much worried about adding offence as much as i think Genos line be playoff ready. Think Talbot had a good effect on Geno in the 09 playoffs, he and Neal would benifit greatly with character guy on that line.
