Those two guys are shooters who lose their head too much. You can have one guy like that, but two is a bad combination. Geno was great last season, but this year he has reverted back to the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 version, who struggles to score goals, loses his temper, and appears to be moping around and not giving maximum effort. This team needs the 2012 version of Malkin (at least prior to the Philly series) to show up. He's been in the league too long and gets paid too much to be putting up below average goal numbers. Many people make excuses for Geno when he goes through extended periods of ineptitude like this, but 8.7 million for 5 goals is unacceptable. And he has perhaps the best sniper in hockey as his linemate.

The issue with the 4th line isn't a question of effort or anything like that. They just suck.

The question is, where have all the Jarkko Ruutu's gone. That guy gave this team a spark when he was here. There are players out there like that (maybe Ott?) and RS just needs to find them.
