Fleury Intimidated by Philly?

Postby Old Time Hockey on Thu Mar 07, 2013 8:57 pm

Why does it seem that Fleury lets in weak goals to Philly every single game. I know 2 of the goals went in off of Paul Martin, but my god, that Timmonen goal is a complete joke. What does everyone else think?

Fleury was clearly off his game tonight, and as we've learned... when a goalie is off his game behind the Pens' defense, they look REALLY REALLY bad.

When the penguins give up 18 some shots in a period - every goalie they have sucks

When they give up 3 - they all look awesome.

Sorry shooky (op), but fleury has been his good ol self all year.. He doesn't put up the record breaking numbers, but he makes the saves that get you the W.. Athletic saves with a few weird goals tied in..

Fleury is not intimidated by the Flyers. We've seen how he has shut the door on them many times over the past 5 years. He'll do so again. He's got a job to do, but there's another team on the ice, too. If Laviolette is fired, then who knows what system the new guy will deploy vs. the Pens, and it may fail in spectacular glory.

He was probably just intimidated by the effort in front of him that period.

NO! Two goals were deflections off of Martin. One was a weak goal. The Pens failed to play defense in front of him. I guess the 18 shots on goal are his fault too! I sick of everyone blaming Fleury for all the faults of the defense. The defense was soft. The team was mentally weak. Geno did better at it so Neal stepped into the level of stupid penalties. Until they get toughermentally and stick to their game they will get handled in the manor they did in the first period.

This is why they brought in Vokoun. He can pick up the messes Fleury leaves and isn't intimidated by the Flyers.

Fleury had a bad night. It happened to be in Philly. Nothing more to see here...

The moment Max signed with the Flyers, I had a feeling that Fleury could suffer for it, because Max would turn over a detailed and comprehensive dossier on him. I'm not asserting this is the case, but I don't underestimate the possibility. It's been a year and a half, though, and you'd think we'd have fought off the mind guerrillas by now.

So keep on playing those mind games together

naaaaah... fleury has been in the league like 8 or 9 years. every team has the same book on him, regardless of which former teammates are currently employed there.
