if i was bylsma i would just put out crosby to take the faceoff at the start of every penalty kill. it's getting old seeing adams/glass lose every faceoff cleanly and have the puck in the back of the net soon after. the passive box also needs to go. it didn't work in the playoffs and it still isn't. toronto put more pressure on the pens down by 2 men than the pens did down by 1.

simple plan to beat the pens pk.....they'll let you hold the puck all day around the perimeter so all you gotta do is get a shot thru to the goal and chances are pretty good you'll get a tip-in or a rebound.

Giving up a mere 5 shots in a period is not something that's happened too often recently. Great period

Dear Granato: More Dupuis/Sutter/Cooke on PK, less Glass. How bout sid or malkin, wouldn't hurt at this point.

Oh for christ sake. Did you see his behind the back pass assist on Martin's goal?

Yes Malkin turns the puck over, but he also does amazing things. He's allowed to F up. :scared:

Well gee, that was a little unnecessary. I'm well aware of the amazing things he does.

Bennett looking more comfy every game in the top 6.

My head hurts. We developed a top 6 winger? I can't seem to wrap my head around this.

Who was the last legit top 6 winger we developed?

Quite a good period. I'm happy with how our guys handled the speedy Maple Leaf's in the first period. They come with a ton of speed once they get going.

But we all know how this goes, two periods left. Can't let up!

mikey287 wrote:I liked that period. Thought we played pretty well all things considered at even strength, really controlled play. Fourth line is getting pucks in deep, the third line is handling some quick, shifty players like Kadri and Frattin and the blueline...Kennedy has disrupted 2 or 3 good rushes already...Crosby is working real well tonight...Fleury playing the puck well, especially when the 4th line is out there, good awareness by him - he doesn't want them to get pinned back in their own end so he helps diffuse the opponent's forecheck with some simple puck playing...great job by him to help his own cause.

Very good period here I felt...

This. Unlucky penalty I thought. Also, I love listening to Jim Hughson.

I will admit I don't know the answer, but do own goals count as shots on goal as well? If not, you might have won.

He's also stolen the puck from the Leafs a bunch in that period.

if Ilya "I'm a career -1 Billion" Kovelchuk gets a ton of PK time, why can't Sid or Geno.

If Glass is Shero's worst signing ever than he is indeed a flipping genius.

I question 'developed' as a premise, but Crosby, Malkin come to mind.

he's pretty bad. contributes nothing offensively, can't win faceoffs, is a horrible penalty killer

Vitale would seem to be a possible solution; great on faceoffs, fast, hits, aggressive. He must have some terrible flaw that prevents him from getting that opportunity.
