I disagree....

Despres will be going back to the owners box in a game or 2 for his "inconsistent play"

I half agree with you. Expect to see Despres back in the press box soon. Without deserving it of course.

well, you can read the rumor thread for supossed players the pens have talked about. however, when every source is reporting that the pens have let it be known for the right price Depres is available then you have to think there is a very likely chance he is gone. no doubt they will be making moves at the deadline.

The fact that they have 10 Despres in the organization at various levels allows the Pens to move him for an asset that need now. That's why his name is being brought up.

I disagree / dislike this comment. I think Despres is a number 2 defenseman. I don't think we have 1 single other defensive prospect that can step in and be the number 2 beside Letang next year.

I agree with you on the number 2, but I also don't think he's a number 2. He's 3-4 at this point...and he's going to get better. I'd rather move one of the other guys outside Joe Morrow instead, but it depends on who comes back this way.

The other thing is that we are playing for a cup this year. That's the attitude now and we'll see where it goes. I just hope if he is moved, it is for a great stay at home D.

Yeah we're going to play for the cup, fail, and sacrifice some of our youth doing it.

You're right that Depres is a 3-4, however after Letang and Martin he's been our 3rd best defenseman this year.

Ownership is all about win now and not for the future. With the talent in the top 6 anything less than 1 Stanley Cup is a failure.

The biggest problem with the coach and maybe even the ownership is - they see just old and young players, not so much as good and bad,or good and not soo good! Thats why Im afraid we still might lose Despres - who is D of the future!

Yes, only the fans can see how well Despres is playing. Somebody needs to send DB a tape.

I'm fairly certain that Despres will be scratched tonight., considering it's a back-to-back game and both Bort and Eaton need playing time.

I'm all for the Pens using their defensive depth as trade bait, but trading Despres makes me uneasy. He's the only proven commodity at this point. There is no guarantee of successful development of anyone else. I'd use Morrow as trade bait before I used Despres.

Honestly, if Despres is moved for a rental, it will be a bad move. However, if Despres is moved and he brings in a stud SAH D...then it might be worth it. We won't know if the trade even happens.

Despres has great skill, but his size makes him truly special. Forecheckers are already just bouncing off him. Wait til he puts it all together. If Shero trades him, it will be for a lot.
